Irish vs. Scottish
Dane and his flashy brain bucket hahahah! ( it is the best damn helmet I have seen )have mentioned that there are more Scotts on this 911 BBS that Irishmen..
Is this true? how many of you are Irish or 1st Generation Irish /American, or Scottish or 1st generation Scottish/American? I am 1st Gen Irish! SmileWavy |
1 Vote for Scotia here. Where's the rest of the clan?
|
Awe, man. I thought this was going to be a post about Whisky :D
edit: Im more of a Bourbon drinker so I'll step aside from this one :) |
Well not first gen.Irish but I'm wiskey drinking grandson of a McCrory.
|
Well there we have it....

I'm gonna have to register under a few names now to even this up;)
Everyone knows a Scotsman is worth at least 2 Irishman anyway :D |

Why does it have to be first generation?? 99% of the Irish in America came over in the 1860s, like all of my ancestors. I am full-blooded Irish-American, but all of my grandparents were born here in approx. 1900 to immigrant parents.
|
Ok Dennis.. you're right why split the group.. if you're Irish then you're Irish.! haha
I called myself 1st Gen due to My Parents being born in Ireland.and moving here.. I was the 1st in the family to be born on US soil. But hell you're right Irish is Irish!!! Now if we could only out number the damn Scotsmen on this BBS! ahahahahaah! |
Thataboy.
|
What if you are Scot-Irish?
|
I, in fact, am 1/2 Scot-Irish. Can I play too?
|
3rd Gen Scottish, 1st Gen. American (parents from British Columbia)... one of them ferriners.
|
I am an AMERICAN with Scottish/Irish ancestry. Oh, and an wee bit German. :)
|
I guess I am quazi-sorta Irish/American. Great-grandparents on both sides were from the "old country" (Cork region). Like a lot of the Irish immigrants, they dropped the "O" prefix from our last name when they became US citizens (or so I'm told).
|
Same here..Scot/Irish and German mutt.
|
I'm an American, first and foremost. My mom and dad were 1st generation Irish and Greek, respectively.
IMHO, the "distinction" here in the US between Irish and Scots is overblown. We're Celts, all, and I'd just as soon buy a Scotsman a drink as a Mick. The Irish guy would buy me one back, however. :D JP (John Patrick) |
Mostly Irish for me - 3rd gen.
My wife's maiden name is Patrick - 3rd gen. My 3yo son's name is Lochlann (and his favorite color is green). My 1yo son's name is Aidan. Startin our own clan I think ... |
