Win XP problem
All of a sudden I can't open any attachments (Word files) on my home PC.
Can't remember the message I get. Will check this and post back. Something about maybe having a wrong file name? Edit: This file could not be found. Try one or more of the following. *Checking the spelling of the name of the document * Try a different file name. Problem - what am I checking for in the spelling of a document and how do I try a different file name as suggested? I update my virus checker daily and have not detected any virus's sitting on the system. Any ideas in lay terms. I'm not too good at this stuff. Thanks Mark

This happens a lot when you are trying to open attachments in e-mails. What it usually means is that you have exceeded your Temporary Internet file storage limit that is set in your Internet Browser. To fix just clear your Temporary Internet Files. In Internet Explorer go to Tools > Internet Options > General > Delete Files.

I have the same problem... but that didn't fix mine. I can access some files attached to e-mail, but not others. I can view .jpg files, but not .doc files.

Lee,
Do you have Microsoft Office installed on your machine? If you don't that would be a reason why you cannot read .doc files. If you do, you may have to reinstall or reassociate .doc files with Microsoft Word. Your .jpg files probably open in either Microsoft Picture Editor or in Internet Explorer or another photo program you may have installed. The .doc files are exclusive to Microsoft programs.
