Summer threats

It appeared all of the sudden in the major news media yesterday, AL Queada would have sleeper cells in the USA, and intends to launch major devastating attacks this summer. So, here is what I make of it:

#1- If it is true, it clearly demonstates that the war on terror did not work, and that the focus should have been inside the USA, rather than in the middle east.

#2- If it is untrue, it shows how the Bush administration is desperate and tries to use scare tactics in order to make the good people feel that only Bush can save them.

One way or the other, this is very bad news.

Aurel

Once again you demonstrate how liberals can take any bit of news whether true or untrue and blame the administration. That is why you have no credibility. Your analysis is completetly flawed by bias.

How many millions were diverted from Afghanistan, the known sanctuary of Al Queada, to Iraq which had no ties to Bin Laden? $700 million.

Oh, I forgot, God told Bush to go into Iraq, so it must have been the right thing to do.

"In his book, Plan of Attack, Mr. Woodward recounts how he asked Mr. Bush whether he consulted his father about the decision to invade Iraq and the President said: "You know, he is the wrong father to appeal to in terms of strength. There is a higher father that I appeal to."

Al Quaeda in the US? Well, we'll just have to bomb them.

Then we can rebuild their schools and infrastructure and provide universal health care!

We'll just borrow the money.

Could you imagine if a major terrorist strike against the US happened with "made in Iraq" WMD? . . . everybody, including myself and the dem's would be sreaming; WHY DIDN'T BUSH CONNECT THE DOTS . . .THE DOTS WHERE SO FREAKING OBVIOUS!

As it is now, finding the WMD has been tough. Perhaps Bush's actions push Saddams WMD out of Iraq, and we will pay the price. . .though I doubt it . .. Saddam likes to hide his power-ranger toys.

Yeah, God's been busy. Apparently, he told my wife to leave me and move to Arizona. I do not doubt that she and GW have been listening to voices, but they did not get these pieces of advice from my God.

Hey, here are some stories that are connected. Guy drives by skid row in a new Mercedes and thinks "Boy I sure like my position on the economic ladder, I'm a real success."

Black man on skid row watches a new Mercedes go by and thinks "I'm at the bottom of the ladder but there's hope....in the right circumstances I might find myself behind the wheel of a shiny car like that. I'd better start by grabbing and cherishing one of these part time minimum wage jobs."

Ordinary joe motors by skid row in his beat-up Quartz Grey Metallic '83 Porsche 911 SC and thinks "There, but for the grace of God go I. I'm just a job and a couple of paychecks away from being in his position, so I've got to put my shoulder to the wheel so my employer/savior continues to insulate me from homelessness."

There is a wild, crazy communistic theory that, aside from being a necessary and convenient evil in a capitalist society (we've been over that), unemployment, particularly the homeless kind, helps terrorize ordinary people into putting up with the stress and crap that represents many peoples' work lives. (Those if you who are out of touch...there are many many many people out there who are not having the BLAST at work that I do. Chat with them. They HATE their jobs. Low pay, no benefits, abusive supervision, etc. Their options all look worse than their situation, so they continue to serve as the backbone of our economic system which is making certain more comfortable people, even more comfortable.) Besides unemployment, fear is (some say) a necessary component of our wonderful caring, responsible, benevolent, loving, christian economic system.

Scoff if you will, but in other countries they wonder why we put up with this. There are places in the world where people have security in the sense that they know they will not have to sleep in the rain, their clothes can be washed when dirty and they will get nourishment. And no, those countries are not littered with lazy people sucking on the government tit. Instead they are filled with relaxed, generous people.

The rest of the world's population might think of us as the most arrogant country in the world, but they smirk when we call ourselves the Greatest.

So yeah, if these concepts are non-credible liberal propaganda fantasy, then lots of people worldwide are suffering from this affliction. The world thinks GW has simply poked the Middle East, and Al Quida, in the side with a sharp stick jsut making them angrier and more resolute in their hatred of America. Imagine their evaluation when they hear from American hawks that our big problem is simply that we are being unfairly treated by the liberal press, and that we should just turn the Middle East into a glass sheet. Arrogant? Oh, not us!

Right. And what if martians attack?

What 'made in Iraq' WMD has been found? One shell that was deteriorated into harmlessness? (Have you noticed the total lack of follow-up coverage of the supposed sarin shell since 5/18?)

What WMD-making facilities have been found?

It's like the buried MiGs. some were covered with plastic; some just had sand pushed over them. None are operational without total overhauls. So, today, are they weapons or just potential weapons?

So is the war on terrorism really a war on ourselves? It seems more and more like it. Most of the money granted for Homeland Security, or increased security at all, has not been found in the state pocketbooks yet. L.A. is as vulnerable as it ever was, as I'm sure N.Y. is. I'm not at all surprised by these threats. I wouldn't be surprised if the threats are politically motivated, either. It's hard for me not to think that we - fellow Americans - are the ones getting played in this whole endeavor to seek and erradicate terror while also instilling democracy. We are lied to continually, or at least not given the full story. Now we're the sacrificial lamb, where if another terrorist strike occurs, it will bring legitimacy to Bush's cause.

But there's only a few lives left in that cat. Just as easily the opposite might occur if there is another terrorist attack here - the voters may say, "It's all YOUR FAULT, Bush," and his political career - or what's left of it - will be ashen - a small reparation if thousands are killed like in 9/11.

One way or the other, this country is the trump card as we are pandered and lied to, then threatened with. We're suckers, plain and simple!

I love America. Not blindly though. Instead, I love her with full understanding that she's not perfect. She's not a fantasy to me, or an ideal. She's my country and while I watch her make mistakes, I remain proud and hopeful that she will become more beautiful.

Heck, where else can you call the nation's highest commander a spineless, dopey, drunken, greedy, arrogant, gullible, lying two-faced, opposrunistic chicken***** on national television? No, I have not done this but I'm looking for an opportunity.

I think the cause is certainly more than legitimate. It's the tactics I'm complaining about. If it were not so tragic, it would be humorous to notice the bureaucracy created by GW. I'd bet that there has never been a larger Federal Government than we'll have at the close of the GWB "administration." By the way, the TSA folks on our project are pathetic. Abysmal. Just what you'd expect from a bureacracy created and administered by people who hate government.

Oh, and you government-haters out there who are complaining that governmetn should be reduced to next-to-nothing but something should be done about our airport security which sucks....listen to what you're saying. Maybe make a tape and play it back or something.

Me, I think government has some very very important roles to play and I believe that it's cheaper in the long run to do those jobs RIGHT than to save money now, and save money in the future, and never get the job done. And like with everything else, management has to take responsibility for performance, or lack thereof. Where is the accountability?

"So is the war on terrorism really a war on ourselves?"

Funny you should say that. I'm working with an electric bicycle company and we FedEx'd an electric bike prototype to Washington DC in two packages. The package with the batteries and charger was intercepted by Homeland Security which proceeded to tear apart and destroy $5K worth of prototype NiMH batteries and housings.

They were nice enough to let us have the pieces. Could they have bothered to call and ask a question or two before destroying our stuff? Well, they could have, but didn't. Do we have recourse? Of course not.

FedEx is under Homeland Security . .. and is tearing up packages ! ?

I bought a 911 stereo & amp from a fellow pelicanite. He sent it USPS-Priority, and it went 'ground' . . . it had a sticker on the box that had a "No Plane" sticker applied. . .by a USPS x-ray worker, I imagine. (wires going between metal boxes, and all cant look good)
