Heck with blame, how do you thank Canada?
Pamela is now a US citizen. (ok, ok the news is a couple weeks old I guess) But it did make me dust off my old copy of "Barb Wire".
How could anyone properly thank Canada for such a gracious gesture? Slow day at the office today - mind seems to be wanderiing...

Speaking of Canada:
Iced Earth I have never heard of the band or the magazine, but this is funny: Here's a delightful interview with rock star, John Schaffer, of the heavy metal group, Iced Earth, by a young Chomsky-reading Canadian leftist for the online magazine, Brave Words and Brass Knuckles. Money quote: BW&BK: "This next question is controversial so I'm letting you know before we proceed. Some political analysts have articulated the view that what happened on September 11 was justified due to America's presence in the Middle East, specifically Saudi Arabia. Some political analysts view it as retaliation for what the US has done in the Middle East in the past. As a Canadian, I'm interested in hearing what you have to say about this view that's been put forth by analysts." JS: "No, it wasn't justified. Not at all. And anybody who says so needs to have their f*ckin' head examined." BW&BK: "Do you think 9/11 will be viewed as the first event in the US empire's decline and fall?" JS: "No. This is not an empire, first of all. If the United States was an empire, your country would be our 51st state." BW&BK: "I understand." Here is the rest of the interview--it is great-- http://www.bravewords.com/news.html?id=14029

No $hit... Schaffer is cool... this is great stuff! I'm going to grab a glass of wine and read the whole interview. Here's a classic transaction (regarding Iraq):
JS: "No. If you_think that's true,_then why_are_70 or 80 percent of the people are thrilled to have us there. Have you not seen that? And it's not a regime, by the way._You keep_up that kind of language I'm going to end the interview right now." BW&BK: "Ok. I_understand."_ JS: "I'm serious." BW&BK: "I'm sorry. It's just my Canadian bias I guess." JS: "Yeah, it is your Canadian bias. I'm sure it is."

Who is this guy? What "type" of music is it? This is interesting, I look to you more pop culture informed guys for some info here. I will read the whole deal tomorrow, but the teasers got me hooked.

Iced Earth is a serious Metal band. I've been listening to them for several years. The first song I ever heard them do was a cover of an old Judas Priest song...and they nailed it. Rob Halford is difficult to imitate, when he hits those high notes!

Are you guys insane? I open a discussion about this...
![]() and you guys would rather slap yourselves on the back because some drugged up rocker happens to support your views and cook even this thread into more political rhetoric? Crap, I'll throw Marilyn Manson at your Schaffer any day if you want to have an "intelligent chat" about world affairs with a musician. Time to take your pills and a long nap boys. After that maybe you can revisit your idol selection process.

Tits and ass are nonpartisan issues on this board. We're all in agreement with your post, Joe. Canada's great!
