Doug, you're gonna kill me, I just go to Costco and pick up their already marinated stuff and throw it on the grille. They have like 3 or 4 different flavors and they're all really good.

Guys, I'm researching this Big Green Egg and I'm totally down to buy one but it seems like they're $1500!!!! Jeez, does it come with its own chef or what?

I like natural gas too. I used propane before that and charcoal originally; but now the convenience and temp control of the stainless 3-burner island unit is really winning me over. Ideally I would like to have a slightly larger one for parties, but the island is relatively small. No sink or drink fridge either :( Fortunately it is right outside the kitchen anyway.

amir - you can get them used from time to time (ie seasoned). and the medium sized one or even small one is quite adequate. Yeah they are expensive...NOT 150 - 200...but totally worth it. And may I repeat...they are the 911s of the BBQ world...total professional killers. And, uh, if you hire ME, I come with a big green egg and a whole add'l arsenal.

I bought the cheapest model Weber Genesis Silver A over at Home Depot over five years ago and this thing is still going strong. My wife uses it for lunch and I use it for dinner almost daily. The thing is a bargain. Good durable grill with easy to find parts and good control. But there isn't a day that goes by without me thinking about charcoal. But who am I kidding. There is no way I could use it with the same convenience. But I wonder though.

aww man, some of you have over the top grills. you have me wondering how hard it would be to do some bricklaying. natural gas grill, wok burner on the side......

You've heard from the rest now hear from the best....
Briquets or Charcoal....ech....The 39.95 Weber Kettle that I bought 23 years ago for grilling quickly...or Rotisering chicken or roasts. I'll use Hickory, Mesquite, Alder, Peach, Plum, Orange and Lemon wood chunks. New Branufels Bandera...Which looks like a filing cabinet with a fire box on the side (indirect heat) Which replaced my 35 Gallon Drum BBQ which was bought on Century Blvd in the late 80's...Rusted out and got itchy to buy something new. It made the best Pork Roasts ever...something which the Bandera and I have yet to accomplish. I would like to have an egg to see how good I can do things...Roasts , Beans etc I've played with the idea of going Naturl Gaz...for convience and the quick cook. But havn't wanted to part with the panango... NOW HEAR IS WHY I"M THE BEST...Simply nun of you have mentioned the seasoning the rubs, the mops, sauces and marinades.... Daddy any idiot can slap a piece of meat on a grill... and most grills work about equally well. I do prefer the charcoal over gaz for the flavor and if youwana be hoity toity yuppie scum U can even prefer Wood Charcoal over Briequits buttt...who cares? Anybody hear ever smoke Paprika....well I have.... |
I bought at Weber Silver series BBQ over 6 years ago when Ig ot married. It still works like brand new and is sturdy even being exposed to rain every winter along with 90degree weather all summer long.
It's gas, but for added flavor when I have the time to REALLY BBQ, I trow in some bbq wood chips or even some charcoal (just couple). My Brother-N-law is a cheap basters mos tof the time and refuses to pay over $200 for a grill. Yet he has purhased over 5 of them since I got married because after a full summer, the ones he buys either fall apart, rust, or get clogged really easy. No to mention the lack of temparature control on those units. Spend big when it comes to a BBQ. |

I just bought a woodFlame to replace my old propane BBQ. What a difference. It is burning , well you probably guessed it, wood. The flame is activated by a small electric fan . You get a different taste depending what type of wood you are burning .

Costco has some great gas grills, just bought one for the desert house.
