				Diversity training and me...

Below are two paragraphs from different parts of the text used in our company's diversity training: Note the reference to the Alamo in the first! I'm not sure what to make of the second paragraph. In the old days, folks lived in areas defined by common languages and trades. Now, I think we are segregated more by incomes; since neighborhoods are more ethnically diverse with income being the common factor. I still think we're a melting pot based on my own experience. It just strikes me as a bold statement by the author. Beyond OT to pointless maybe, but do ya really want another picture of my dog? Cheers, Bob

That is in a manual? Sweet ass. That is terrible. The last line is quite something. Ouch.

of course we shouldn't be intolerant based on history. Only an idiot does that. There is plenty of fodder provided by race, color and religion. And to top it all off, most people are a-holes anyway, so they deserve my snotty attitude. Wait a minute...what was the question? Whether or not Kerry was a late-term abortion? Does the military like the 997? | ||

And the author is sharp enough to put her name on that piece of work. Hispanics should hold a grudge over the Alamo? LOL Does she understand the meaning of that (inaccurate) term? Duh

Ummm, the Alamo? Hispanics should forgive whites for the Alamo? Maybe I slept too long in History class, but it has been my understanding that the whites unsuccessfully defended the Alamo, and that they were all killed.

To put it in context: The first four lines are from the title page. The next two paragraphs are from separate parts of the 106 page text. The writing style is a bit "in your face" for emphasis, I suppose. I think it's odd that the Colin Powell quote (last sentence) contradicts the author's assertion that the melting pot analogy is invalid:

The author lists herself as a "CSP", and a CPDT" A CSP is a Certified Safety Professional, but a CPDT I'm not sure about, its either a Certified Professional Development Trainer, or a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, there seems to be both. Diversity training is a bunch of BS. Its simple, treat others like you want to be treated. And this "People of Color" thing is a bunch of BS as well. Its a code phrase meaning everyone except the crackers. Its also bad grammer that your seventh grade English teacher wouldn't let you get away with. Its a dangling modifier. You wouldn't call a blind person a "Person of Blind" or a deaf person a "Person of Deaf"
