Why is Formula 1 subject to black out?
All year the announcers have been saying to watch the Formula 1 race on Sunday, but that the race coverage is subject to black out. Does anyone know what conditions will cause the race coverage to be a black out? In particular, is there a chance that tomorrows race in Indy will be blacked out?

I believe it all depends on your geographic location (regional/national/international market). It's a broadcasting rights thing, and is governed by Bernie (FIA) and to a lesser extent, Speed Channel (for this one race, as they are the sole network responible for the world feed at the USGP). AFAIK, the only markets subject to blackout this weekend will be the international markets (Canada being the closest). Worth looking into though.

How much are we talking here? How much money does the Speed Channel get to air the F1 race in Indy? How much money does F1 get from Speed Channel?
