Exercise equipment

Do you work out at home or go to the gym? I used to have a Soloflex and a Nordic Track, both produced the desired results when I used them. I gave them both away because I'm allergic to the dust they were gathering. I joined the gym but can't seem to get my a$$ out of the house to work out. I think I exercised more when I had the Soloflex and Nordic Track. So now, I'm looking to replace those machines. What do you have and why do you like it? I'm looking for a weight training machine and something for cardio. Thanks.

I bike to the gym. The bike gives me my cardio, legs and stomach, the gym does my arms, shoulders and chest. I find I get too lazy if I try to do things at home, whereas the gorgeous young chicks at the gym inspire me to go hard at it to, ummm, look nicer for them.

I'm the opposite - having equipment right in the apartment gives me no excuse not to work out, whereas no matter how close the gym is I'd skip when it got cold, wet, or both. I do miss the gym bunnies, though.

I'm no help on equipment, as I've got a basic treadmill (for winter running) and a bench with free weights. Machines are nicer for the home, especially if you work out alone like I do, since they're safer. But fw are better overall, I'm used to them and, like Dirty Harry, I know my limitations.

I have Chuck Norris's Total Gym machine and it works great for toning. I also have a gym membership that I don't use very often. But most of the time, I work out around the house, pushups, situps and a little bit of boxing (punching bag).

Finally got myself a nice bench and 300lbs of free weights. On the weekends I throw a few reps in several times a day and on weekdays get about 30 minutes 2-3x. I had a gym membership but that was like flushing $35/month down the toilet. It was 10 minutes by car but I always found a reason not to go. I supplement with outdoor running (SoCal weather) year round. I sold my mtn. and road bikes and would like a replacement - just trying to convince myself that I will actually ride it. Bikes take a lot of free time which I have little of.
