How I'm spending my Summer
It sure isn't driving!! I really miss the Saturday Morning Runs but I've decided it's time for the shoemakers kid to have some shoes.
Work in the shop continues as usual but we try to steal a couple hours here and there to give "Scrufus Domesticus" some attention. The new motor is in and running. It's a 140 hp model that replaced the 110 that lost a cylinder on New Years Day(later in the day AFTER TRE's New Years Day Rally) Everything from the crank out is either new or rebuilt so I don't expect any problems with it for a loooooong time. Jet Hot Coated Headers with temporary mufflers and extra deep oil pan ![]() Top side shot. ![]() Body work is taking place on the outside. ![]() Yenko's version of a duck tail. ![]() It may be New Years Day 2005 before it's back on the road but this time it'll be looking good. Thats all for now, Thanks for listening. ![]() P.S. Techweenie thinks Bush sucks but couldn't think of a way to segway it into this thread.

I'm hoping you'll have a use for the factory trim item I sent?

I took a 1968 150 model, transplanted a 180 Hp engine that had been balanced and polished by a company (now defunct) in Buffalo NY, installed an entire Corsa interior and external trim. Used the '66 tail lights (liked them better than the '65), painted the thing GM "Bright Red", and drove it from 1986 through 1992. Sold it and ten years later it was till running and up for sale again because the owner was moving from Rochester NY to Cleveland and didn't have enough room in the new digs. That engine is tough to destroy, can be tuned in white gloves, and the oil filter can be removed without spilling a drop.. What WERE they thinking of..a user friendly car.
W...The "early" and ";ate" suspension systems are light years apart. Even "Unsafe at any Speed" admits that.... I keep hoping GM will bring it back someday.."the poor man's Porsche"

Hey! It's a one-off Porsche copy. Rear engined, aircooled, Nader Knee Knockers.
That's enough P-car content for me!

Corvairs rock! For me it's a nostalgia thing. A good friend owned a Monza back in the day. I had a Goat...we called 'em our economy or battle cruisers....Be sure to keep us posted as things progress, okay Kevin?

I had an uncle (a rocket scientist at Rocketdyne) who used to take my Dad and I to the EdwardsAFB air show every year. My cousin and I (ages 7 or 8 or so) would be in the back of his Spyder convertible.
We (yes, us in the back seat) would go slighty airborne out in the desert wash crossings on the way there every year (days before seat belts), but I do remember the sound of that flat turbo singing. Am looking forward to seeing your project on the road, Kev.

Great project! At the Tweeks Funfest earlier this month there was a guy that had stuffed a Corvair engine in a 356!
