Edwards won verdicts totaling $152 million, including one for $25 million, the largest personal-injury verdict ever in North Carolina. With 30% or more going to him as the lawyer for every victory, he amassed a fortune estimated between $20 and $50 million.

The bulk of Mr. Edwards work was in medical malpractice. He vigorously opposes all tort reform.

Maybe he can sue Haliburton holding them liable for the Iraq war.

Interesting bio. I guess if he were republican then he'd be regarded as a shrewd and talented professional that knows what a business opportunity looks like. Savvy.

But he's a democrat, so that means he's an ambulance chaser.

So........we've got Big Oil and Haliburton in the White House right now, while a man who has fought for and achieved justice for victims of medical malpractice is somehow too sleazy for that job.

Sounds like a real "man of the people", just like his boss. And his boss's boss...er, I mean, "wife".

Super I am sorry as a North Carolinian I get a little perturbed when the man spends almost half of his one and only term campaigning for another job. Those personal injury lawsuits have driven the cost of health care through the roof. I know doctors that are paying $200K a year for malpractice insurance and have never had a claim against them.

While I would be very upset if anyone harmed a loved one of mine wither intentional, gross negligence, or just pure stupidity I really don't see how $25,000,000 is going to make things all better.

So yes I think Edwards is scum and an ambulance chaser.

The whining about what doctors pay for insurace comes from the high cost of health care and what people like Edwards do to drive that.

I thought only republicans were capitolist bastards. You mean the dems have some too? And they make you pay to see thier advertising(F-911)? I think we repubs have been mis labled.

Ambulance chasers, skirt chasers, WMD chasers. They're all chasing something. Generally it involves my wallet.

Sounds like the flip flop king, John Kerry got a flip flop Veep.

Funny thing is, these two were so adversarial during the primaries, I didn't think Edwards would 'settle'.

Kerry's two previous candidates of rumor (McCain and Dean) are both now campaigning for Bush.


Nader sounds saner every day.

This election is going to be fun.

I dunno.....

My initial thought is, if something untoward happened to the President, I would rather see President Edwards than President Cheney. That prospect absolutely scares me.

So GWB's string of business failures and unremarkable governorship = excellent qualifications to be President.

A record of failures on the economy, international diplomacy, the "war on terra" and a blind eye to sleaze = really good reasons for re-election.
