The Best Beer You've Ever Had

Hey Everyone!
Its hot today and I'm thinking about beer. What is the best beer you've ever had, why, and what were the circumstances under which you imbibed!

I'll start: Freshly tapped Bridgeport IPA, friends deck on the Rogue River, 95+ degrees, dappled sunlight from overhanging oaks, someone else cooking fresh king salmon on the BBQ. Nothing to do but drink, talk, eat.

Two bottles of Bass whilst my fellow teaching assistants and I were grading tests one semester.

This was when I discovered that I liked Bass, and when I discovered I liked beer as well (all the beer I'd had previously was poorly disguised horse piss).

Bass made grading chores so much more tolerable....

While I like quite a few different beers I always look forward to a Hacker Pschorr Weiss..with a lemon slice round the rim.

North Coast Brewing Scrimshaw Pilsner (discovered this one while fetching the now deceased 930 from Chico)

Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout -- I could drink this year-round, no doubts. And I'd be 50# heavier. Great w/ Nutter Butter cookies (no *****).

Anchor Porter -- Yummy! When I see it, I order it.

Runners up -- Guinness, Pete's Wicked Ale and Salvator. I actually like Samichlaus as well, but tradition dictates I only order it at the Brickskeller in DC.

MMMM beeer. D'Oh -- Atkins!!

Randy,
You really can talk about beer at least once a year. Consider this an update!

A "Cold Bass" makes life more tolerable...

A Cold Fischer Ale is also very enjoyable.

One of my personal favorites is Grolsch, but I can only find it here and there. It's got some serious shank, so you can't drink it like domestics or you'll never make it home.

Yeah Lenn. Half the time I get it locally though, its gone skunky!
I really like a hoppy beer. Here's a vote for Deschutes Mirror Pond IPA.

I like the way you think, those are two of my favorites also. For mass market beer, I like Blue Moon with an orange slice, and good ole Miller Lite is my "night on the town" cheap beer. One of my favorite micro brew local beers around here is Oaken Barel Pale Ale.

Good thread, you can never talk about beer too much. Now having too much beer can be a bad thing, although it worked out to my favor this past weekend!

This may seem a bit pedestrian but, whilst visiting in Niagara Falls a few years back we stayed in Canada and where amazed with flavor of your "run of the mill" La Batts Blue. Tastes different here in the states, where i enjoy copious amounts of Yeungling Lager

I found Grolsch a couple years back at TreeTops Resort in Northern Michigan. We were at the ESPN Par 3 Challenge with Mikelson, Couples, Fuzzy, and can't remember. Anyway I'm in this little pub with an awesome beer cooler chatting with the keep and trying all kinds of different brew. Anyway he pulls out this HUGE cask I guess of Grolsch and tells me I'll love it, I did and it obviously hit me hard as I barely remember hanging with the ESPN crew and announcers when they hit this bar later that night It was a great time, and actually my mug is in the promo they use for the tourney with Couples on 7. Great courses too.. Beer bar 3 stars , courses - 3.75 stars.
