I saw on the news that the SOUTH Koreans hate that we are there and want us gone.(It was on TV so it has to be true)
Be careful what you wish for.

Doh! Thanks for catching that.
But I stand by my original statement that the North Koreans hate us. ![]()

All part of making America a safer place. At the time we (or he, I should say) decided to invade Iraq, North Korea's possession of WMD was not a guess. N Korea was flaunting their nuke program. And vowing allegiance to terrorists while giving us the raspberry. It was as if N Korea was trying to get us to choose them instead of Iraq.
Well, we thought that Iraq's WMD's were more dangerous, and since Saddam bombed New York we chose Iraq instead of North Korea. Perhaps the fact that Iraq is floating on a sea of crude oil, and North Korea is bristling with the world's fifth largest army may have tipped the balance just a tad. But golly, now that we have kicked an angry beehive in the Middle East, and now that we are leaving the hens in South Korea unprotected from the foxes to their North who have nukes and missiles....well.....I just feel a lot safer. Don't you?

My brother was stationed in Korea for a long time. Well before 911. He said they disliked us there on both sides. The SK would like handle things the way they want to not the way we tell them to.

So if I read that right mathematically, SK has 650K troops, and we're pulling out a total of 12K of ours? Leaving about 24K of ours there?
I really don't see that that would have much of an effect either way. How many do we have in Japan? That's another place where we're welcome to leave -- anytime. According to a 1998 report: "The United States has over 200,000 troops stationed in 144 countries and territories. At any given time, it usually has another 20,000 sailors and Marines deployed afloat on Navy ships."
