how do get dogs to stop *****ing in my yard?

I live on a cul 'd sac. There are only 3 dogs on my cul 'd sac. My Chihuahua, my neighbors chihuahua, and my other neighbors pommeranian. I know their dogs aren't *****ing in my front yard because the piles are about the size of our dogs. I never catch larger dogs roaming my street so they must be coming late at night and getting cozy on my lawn. Why my lawn? What can I do to make my lawn less attractive?

You need to mark your territory, and protect your turf!

Actually there is a powder that pet stores sell to keep animals out of certain areas, not sure of the name. The best and funniest solution would be to wait by your sprinkler controls and turn them on when the dog and owner come by.

A farm supply store could sell you an electric fence, that way you make it fun as well.

put a small servailance camera. when you get the "evidence" , confront your neighbor, dogs have to be leashed, can't just roam around the neighborhood.

Try a web search for "Scarecrow Water Repeller". We haven't got one yet, so I can't speak from experience. We are looking to get one to keep the rabbits at bay.

Kind of a doggie bidet?

When I lived in town, I knew who the culprit was. I shoveled it up for a few weeks, got tired of that. Then, I still shoveled, for a few days. Each time I shoveled, I placed the results on the front porch of the home the culprit lived in. Soon, no more dog poop on my lawn.

I can't do any fence in my front yard...home owners association rules. (I gotta run for the board this year)

I'm going to try the stuff I got at petco tonight. I'm also ordering a couple of those motion sensing sprinklers. Thanks John.

Home owner's associations..Wonderful invention.

Within reason, that is.

Get the damn home owner's association to pass a "law" that requires dogs to be taken in after dark!!

Homeowner's assocations suck ass. Solve it yourself and be a man about it; homeowners associations are for sissies that need to go running to mommy because they can't work out silly disputes like this.

haha, i dont think that is what he meant
i think the HOA will not allow a fence, because it will make the cookie cutter home look like a brownie. unique!

I recommend against neighborhoods with associations, particularly if the municipality already has adequate zoning laws. Too many times I have seen the association use its power to harass a member until he or she is forced to move. I have also seen people nearly lose their homes because of disputed fees/assessments. I think they should be outlawed.

It's really something when one has to get permission to have a lawn or to paint the house a different color. Conformity can go a bit too far.

One of my favorites was a neighborhood that charged $10 per day if you had guest vehicle(s) in your driveway and not in the garage after 10 PM.

homeowners associations are a double edge sword...the limit what you can do to your property, but they keep the griswalds from parking cousin ed's motorhome in the front yard. "*****ters full!" I don't plan on living in the cookie cutter development forever, and in the mean time I'm sure the neighborhood won't degrade. this assures me that my neighboors won't have a negative impact on my resale value.

I live at the end of a Cul de sac and have the same problem with a German Shepard. Husband and wife team randomly hit the surrounding neighborhoods and let their dog take Horse Craps anywhere...and leave it.
I almost caught the bastards in the act once. I'm thinking of rigging a motion sensing camera.

Problem with the the motion sprinkler is that joggers or the more respectful dog owners might get hit.

Hmmm, maybe some meat scented Exlax....lol

There was a friend of mine who let his dog run in the neighborhood. She was a smart and friendly English Setter who loved everybody and ran and played with all the kids.

It never occurred (for some reason this doesn't occur to many pet owners, they truely intend no malice) to my friend that his dog was ever a cause for irritation due to where she was leaving her piles.

When my friend (a reasonable guy) was told about this it was taken care of fast and never a problem again.

I only had to be told, I mean my friend only had to be told once.
