Any CB750 owners here?
Just trying to get a feel for market value of a '74 CB 750four in running condition.
What's a stock 750 worth? |

What kind of shape is it in? I had one of those in college and actually was perusing the eBay lists a couple of weeks ago for one.

I bought/sold a '78 CB750K Four in....1996 I believe for $650. It was in excellent running condition and about 8 on the cosmetic scale (though with aftermarket pipes, 4-2).
About 5 years ago I bought another '78 for $750, but with the original 4-4 pipes. It's seen better days...sits in the garage waiting for me to synch the damn carbs.

Most good condition, good running motorcycles are worth at least a dollar a CC even if they are old.

The first time I saw a CB750 that was more than your plain ol'Honda was in Park City, Utah, on a trailer back in my college days. The bike had been modified to look like a cafe racer, and it looked cool. I've always liked the look of vintage cafe racers..so I thought maybe I'd build one.
So depending on the shape, 750 to 1000 is good for a stock CB750, right? Thanks for the replie guys. |

It really depends on condition. You can buy a "restored to museum quality" sandcast 750 for maybe $3500. However I probably wouldn't get $500 for my '78 as it is right now.
The more stock it is, the better, IMHO. I had a cafe racer dream for a while, then just getting the damn thing to run after letting it sit for 2 years overwhelmed the project. Man do I hate those carbs. Here's somebody who had a lot of fun with his: http://community-2.webtv.net/@HH!D3!F9!A49DDFB60BA4/Roadster1928/CAFERACERHONDACB750/

I've seen E_bay sandcasts go for over 10,000!!! What's so special? Is it a sandcast case?

A '75 CB750 was my transportation from about '76 through '79. I'd be surprized if they are worth much. Compared to today's machines they are overweight, underpowered slugs.

Actually out of the box peak HP of a CB750 is about on par with the peak HP of a new Harley TC88. And the CB weighs 500 lbs....probably the only HD that weighs 500 lbs is a Sporty 883.
Like most 4's, you gotta rev 'em to go anywhere. ![]()

My Ninja has plenty of power when I feel like living on the edge, but I was looking for a cruiser or something less beastly to take for a warm summer night cruise...
It's not fast, but even a 50cc Honda can be fun... Besides, I like the old stuff... ![]() |

Understood. I have some excruciatingly fond memories of "touring" on that thing. If "touring" is the correct term. Sleeping bag. Tent. Tools. Toothbrush. Rolling papers.

Who *didn't* own a CB750 back in the day?
It was the original "superbike". I bought the very first one to come to the Canadian West Coast. As to prices? All over the map, I'd suppose. Most examples I see on the road today, are Gruppe B(astarde) material. 95% parts available from American Honda, though not overnight.

Jim, is that what you call those foam sleeping bad pads back then? Rolling paper
![]() Of course I wouldn't ride anything that wasn't bastardized Doug... ...and being able to get parts is a major plus..although the one I'm bidding on has so many aftermarket parts from companies that have gone out of business, it might be a slight headache. It's got dual disk brakes up front and a single in rear!!!! Try finding that in 1974. Don't nobody snipe this one, or I'll send the Bastard hounds after your arse.. |

Its a custom Royal Star Warrior w/ a 1700cc aircooled twin...I watched a video of one doing the 1/4 mile in ~9.4 seconds....of course it was not stock, but 120 ft-lbs of torque can be a lot of fun on two wheels, I'm sure.
