Green Libertarians -Breaking the dualopoly.
I read many post here, that seem to be rooted in either the "Green" or the Libertarian positions . . yet most seem to stay close to the "big tent" of Dem or Republican.
So in the interest of where the thinking lays, another poll. ![]() Please pick the direction in which you would like to see the US political culture move. (or stay)

I have pretty disparate ideas that don't fit cleanly into any of the buckets.
There are things about the Libertarians that I agree with. There are things about the Greens that I agree with. There are things about the Republicans that I agree with. There are things about the Democrats that I agree with. Naturally when I refer to a party, I refer to their traditional values...not the media/corporate/special interest whores that they've become.

Can we have a choice of "independant"?
Your poll is an example of why I stated that we live in a dual-party system. Just the mere presence of "Green" or "Libertarian" as a party designation is enough to make most voters think tree hugger or socialist respectively and run away screaming to the big boys. But in answer to your question, I would like to have a collection of politicians that look at the issue, the pros, the cons, the benefit to the greater society and then make a decision based on informed reasoning. Not have to be swayed by party voting lines or the "I'll scratch your back if you'll scratch mine" gamesmanship of politics today.

I'd like the process to be not such a ridiculous invasive carnival such that some people with half a brain and less than half an ego would be interested in participating.

Well, there's already a bunch of Green-leaning countries in the world that those so inclined could move to. I don't think there's anywhere that's Liberatarian-leaning and I don't want to move, so let's give it a try!

New Hampshire.
![]() Seriously, I read somewhere that the Libertarians were trying to get together in NH. I guess if a large enough bloc moves there, elections would be interesting.

i'm an economic conservative but a social liberal, so it's not easy for me to like either of the major parties.
I'd like to know how many of the above libertarian votes have actually voted for a libertarian candidate in any elections.

That's perhaps the crux of the thread - why is it that so many people with so many diverse opinions are afraid to do anything that doesn't involve their belief systems getting "dumbed down" to two bullet points. It's a completely ridiculous system. Ralph Nader is absolutely right about the nation needing at LEAST one more party - in reality it would probably benefit from SEVERAL more. It would also encourage very clear delineations of position so that people could differentiate between them; something that is somewhat of a grey area under the current system.
