No...she's not a Porsche...but she's faster and nimbler...
Okay...well, faster to 118mph...lol...infinitely nimbler.
1991 Suzuki Bandit 400. This bike is great for two things: Best beginner's bike ever made ~and~ Amazing track bike Anyways...she's a 91 Bandit 400, water-cooled, GSXR400 engine, stripped down to bare-bones, very naked. She's been a race-bike for the last couple years, and she's been an amazing one. EBC pads, fairly new chain, rubber needs new before next track day but is good for another half season of daily riding. Custom clip-ons, full Yosh exhaust, custom steering damper. Roughly 11k miles on engine. Bike runs excellent. Wiring harnesses fully in-tact should you want to return her to stock...would not be hard. Currently, prepped for the track, she weighs in at just over 320lbs and dynoed a solid 51rwhp (if I recall correctly). What's wrong with her? Not a lot. Carbs need some work. The #4 float sticks and she floods out fairly easily. She needs rejetting, anyways...unless she's going back to Wisconsin or something. Title is also MIA...I've done a very thorough history search on her, no problems, title was just misplaced. An easy $20 fixes it. Outside of that she's golden. $1000 takes her. If you want an excellent track bike to get into the sport or a good bike to learn on, this is what you want. I'm not a haggler...$1000 is what I feel she's worth. I'm always open to suggestions but it's a pretty firm price. Shipping to just about anywhere in the continental USA will run about $350...and shipping can be arranged easily to some areas (Oklahoma, Kansas, Northern Texas, etc...). I will assist as much as possible to make moving the bike as affordable as can be. ![]() (apparently all my pics of her have been deleted...I'll get more. This is an interesting pic, though...it shows her on the scale fully lighted and street-legal~ish at 335lbs).

If shots of anything spoecific are needed, please let me know.
Also, the extra hole in the guage bezel is cut to fit a 2 1/8" guage. I have a bezel that mounts a guage of the same size on either side of the tach, and a bezel that simply holds the tack. I also have a box of parts for her including verious jets, filters, levers, dog bones, tail light, safety tether, links, pegs, and a complete FSRM. Headlights are not included...it's hard to find 4" 125w 12v GE landing lights anymore...

Ok, I'll jump in here. I see three impediments to your sale:
1. Been raced = price too high. 2. No title = price too high. 3. Price too high.

Price too high because she's raced? That's funny...just wait til half the guys here with track cars hear that their cars are worth **** because they've been "raced"...
...it's a fully prepped "track bike"...of course it's been raced...

just curious, why don't you get the title replaced yourself and save the buyer the hassle?

Your best bet is to get it retitled, go to the track during a track day or race, and hang a "For Sale" sign on it.

Ive always wanted a 400. Great hooligan bike. All of the 400s were grey market, correct? The GSXR and CBR 400cc bikes were not real easy bikes to find the last time I was looking. Get the title situation fixed and you should have an easier time selling it.

Agree with Blue.. you might be able to find an 18 year old to buy it for the street, but most likely you're going to sell it at the track.

I don't title her myself because I'd have no need for a title. I'd take the cost of titling her off the price.
Bill of sale proves I own her. I have copies of all the previous bill of sales.

Agreed. I'd never buy a bike that had been raced unless I was looking to race it myself. Racing is downright abusive to bikes and shortens the life of components. Why do you think racers of bikes (and cars) are constantly tearing them down? Because they have to!

These bikes were sold in Canada. A buddy of mine had one and it was alot of fun. Another nice 400 was the FZR Yamaha. Four small cyl = 14000 rpm = fun!!!

I meant to add that...the Bandit 400 was a US market bike in 91 and 92. The FZR 400 was a Canuck bike, not a us market bike. The GSXR400, though basically the same bike as the Bandit 400, was a Japan only bike.
The bandit/GSXR 400 is a lot similar to the FZR 400, though. Similar outputs and 14000~15000 RPM operating ranges. This bike, the Bandit 400, reds out at 14000 but the redline is only in place there bacause they thought it was a good place. This engine is capable of in excess of 17,500 rpm. I'm not trying to sell her as a streetbike. I'm trying to sell her as a track bike with the possabillity of being street legal again. I'd much rather sell her to someone who can utilize this bikes abillity. Racing a bike is not that abusive and I don't see how anyone can think it is. I've been racing for years and have never "had" to tear into a block. I've been racing the very same air cooled '83 XJ400 for almost 3 years, after she'd had 24,000 miles put her, and been beating the hell out of her without ANY trouble.

No it isn't and no it doesn't. Bike's still way too expensive. Its a 13 year old track mule worth about half what you're asking. |

i like the 400 bikes. i have a friend that brings bike over from japan and sells them in the bay area. he always has something around that makes me go, "what the heck is that?" good luck with the sale mac.

you commit a cardinal sin. The classic "its onlyl $20 to fix it" line. If it is so cheap, then do it yourself and then you don't have to mention it.
The lack of title would be a big impediment to most buyers. |
