Senator Kerry - THE most liberal Senator

http://washingtontimes.com/op-ed/20040301-085725-5267r.htm

Quote:

On a scale that ranges from 0 to 100, Mr. Kerry compiled a composite liberal score for 2003 of 96.5, the highest in the Senate. He eclipsed proud liberals like Paul Sarbanes (94.7) of Maryland, Barbara Boxer (91.2) of California, Tom Harkin (89.3) of Iowa and the Senate's liberal lion, Edward Kennedy (88.3), his Massachusetts colleague. It was the fourth time in his 20-year Senate career that Mr. Kerry compiled a composite voting record that was unsurpassed in its liberalism by any of the other 99 members of the Senate.
Quote:

It should also be noted that during 10 years of Mr. Kerry's Senate career, including 2002, not a single senator was ranked more liberal than Mr. Kerry on social-issue votes.
Quote:

When questioned at Sunday's Democratic debate in New York City about reclaiming his distinction as the most liberal U.S. senator in 2003, Mr. Kerry called it "a laughable characterization" and "the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my life." He asserted that "labels are so silly in American politics." But Mr. Kerry often indulges in ascribing "right-wing" or "far-right" labels to President Bush. For example, on what would have been Martin Luther King Jr.'s 75th birthday, Mr. Kerry accused the president of "threatening civil rights on behalf of right-wing ideologues." Apparently, Mr. Kerry doesn't have anything against labels. He just doesn't like the "liberal" label.

Mark, don't forget...the other half of the two johns ranks #4 on the liberal chart...

Moneyguy1 08-02-2004 06:47 PM

Gee, Doctor.. you make "liberal" sound like a bad thing..

Without "liberals" there would be

no vote for women

no end to slavery

no 18 year old vote

The list goes on.

And, like a coin, the political spectrum must have two sides for balance. Of course, it would be nice if civility were involved.

Would you believe that people can actually have disagreements without stoopingto name calling and labelling? Imagine that.......What a concept.

Must be very lonely in your angry little world out there......

pwd72s 08-02-2004 06:56 PM

Moneyguy? If liberal weren't a bad thing, why do you prefer to call yourselves "progressives"??? :D

no end to slavery -- riiiiiiiighit (meaning wrong)... It was the right-wing Christians and the newly formed Abolition Party, better known as the Republican party, that made this happen.

no 18 year old vote -- pure stroke of brilliance...let the stupid vote

The list goes on. -- so does the b.s.

Hey Doc.....Still not a rational answer....Just some lame wit (not to mention puerile)..I will continue to question you every time you post something as fact that cannot be proven or comes from a known source with its own agenda. Not everyone is going to take everything you say as truth.

Hey...PWD..There you go again, trying to put me in a category....Easier than thinking, ain't it..Let's see...What have I posted...first time I voted, campaigned for Goldwater....worked on Reagan's campaign. Helped a Demo friend of mine running for County legislature and told by my party I shouldn't be doing that...Have worked on campaigns for both major parties...Can you say that? Can you say you have EVER been directly involved in the political system? If so, I congratulate you. If not, WHY NOT?

Think about what you post before you hit "submit reply". Don't be so quick with the "labels". It makes you look foolish.

I am only trying to point out that none of your above posts are clarifying the issues. No one is going to make "converts" by negativity.

Nothing personal, at least on my part, gentlemen.

lame wit = funny
puerile = even funnier

Don't need everyone. Just enough peops to get an absolute majority. I am very confident.

No personal offense taken and none meant. It's all politics.

Moneyguy1 08-03-2004 09:07 AM

I wish you the best.

How many here have been swayed by your approach?

Burnin' oil 08-03-2004 09:13 AM

I believe everything that Doc Wilson says (except for his denial of playing for the other team) . . .

Shuie 08-03-2004 09:27 AM

Dont know if this has been posted before. Got it in the email this morning.

You never know how much of this stuff is 100% true but it's still distrubing to read and listen to.

MichiganMat 08-03-2004 09:38 AM

You guys do realize that the discussed liberal-scale was compiled by the National Journal right? "composite liberal score"?? HA! How scientific! And from such an independent source!! Ofcourse, it must be true. The story is even run in Rev. Moons paper, the WashTimes, wonderful.

WARNING: The spin-doctors have us all under mind-control

John Stewart debunked this silly argument last night with some Senator from Delaware, BTW. You can catch the rerun tonight at 7:00pm on Comedy Central.

ubiquity0 08-03-2004 11:26 AM

Mat- THEY are reading your post. Your Liberal Score has just gone up by 5 points.
;)

the irony here is that whenever Mark W. decides to take a page right out of the liberal playbook and treat ignorance in kind, the lefties on this board suddenly feel obliged to get their panties all in a bunch. what makes me laugh is that many of those on this board who accuse Mark of not using "rational answers" have not given any rational arguments to begin with. in this case, a little turnabout is fair play, and perhaps a bit appropriate as well

I always suspected liberals wore panties. Although I must admit, I did try on a silk thong once. I can now see the appeal.

ronin 08-03-2004 01:36 PM

aaagh. where's Todd's imaginary sharp stick so I can poke out my mind's eye?? :D
