In which we turn innocuous topics into political rants

It's easy, we take turns. Start with a seemingly innocent topic, then the next poster turns into a Right Wing Conspiracy (tm) or Insidious Liberal Movement (patent pending)

I'll start it off:

Ever notice how those zip-lock closures on the cheese packages are really hard to close securely?

You're obviously a liberal who has been eating government cheese for far too many years. Why don't you get a job and stop being a parasite.

This is exactly why we needed welfare reform. Anyone who disagrees with me is un-American and should go live in France where the cheese doesn't need to be kept in a zip loc bag.

I think I may have missed the point as there is no Insidious Liberal Movement or Right Wing Conspiracy in there.

How about, difficult-to-close zip loc cheese bags are proof that Bush knew about 9/11.

Damn, this is harder than I thought - either that or I have no imagination.

That's what this election is about---SECURITY. If you think the Democrats can provide it, you're fooling yourselves. And if you think the Republicans know what they're doing, you're an idiot.

What, which side was I on???!

Nader is the only candidate left.

You're obviously a third-party voter - don't throw your vote away!

Yes I did, thank you for asking. Typical ultra liberal condescending "I'm the intelligensia" crapulence. Not only did I notice them, they were put into place by no-nonsense Republican hard work.

And Hitler used twist ties...just like the Democrats.

I don't know a lot about zip loc bags, but I did eat a lot of cheese in Vietnam. And that's what this country needs! A cheese-eating, French-speaking, spouse of a billionaire. If i'm elected there will be lots of cheese for everyone and I promise to make fully-functioning zip loc bags my top priority.

Sincerely, John Kerry

Not just blatantly insulting, POLITICAL. You could reword as follows:

"What a liberal remark, which could only be made by someone that is liberal".

Still somewhat redundant/circular. We'll work on it.

Next up for polarizing and hysteria: Wayne's book has 101 projects. Why not 102? or 50?

Are we all trying to be clever? I don't think it is working....I din't find any of your posts to be funny or even amusing for that matter. I found them to be confusing and inept....heavy handed at best.

I tis obvious that the zip lock cheese bags are merely a ploy by corporations to lull you into believing that they are doing something for the consumer, by seemingly making his cheese stay fresher. However if the real truth be known they are hard to secure because the corporations really want the cheese to go bad so that you will have to buy more. ....

On the other hand

I aplaud the efforts of the corporation to keep my cheese fresh. It is no fault of the corporation that they are hard to secure. If it weren't for all the government regulations governing the manufacture of these bags they would be a cinch to secure tightly ...

These 2 positions took me about 2 minutes to dream up...

I believe my work in fact conveyed the purity of essence. Confusing, inept, and heavy-handed. Just as cheese should be.

You're just bitter because they ran out of brie at the Golden Showers buffet.

Yawn! Dream up is right. Tabs, i fell asleep getting through the multisyllabic wording.

Comedy is not funny if you have to think too hard (except maybe the dry British kind).

No trouble reading the words - it's laughing at them that I'm gripping over.

Obvioously, the thread is intended to be humorous. The direction of the thread is towards humor, not serious. Your serious and thoughtful comments are going to be wasted here.

This thread is for pie-in-the-face, ridiculous conspiracy theory humor.

For instance:

Those zip loc bags not working are proof that Lee Harvey Oswald did not act alone!

Signed, Oliver Stone.

That's what i'm talking about!

Nicely done. It's obvious you can just flip the switch between humor and serious.

BTW, were the same people that were on the Warren commssion also on the 911 commission?
