C&D Review the Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo
Well, it took a while, but C&D have finally reviewed the Australian-built Falcon XR6 Turbo. I thought you guys might be interested in it.
![]() Come October, these things will have 6-speed manual transmissions and revised gear clusters, with shorter final drive ratios, too. Should make it slightly quicker, while retaining (or improving) fuel economy. The 5-speeder is a bit of a pig. Fun car to drive, though. Aftermarket tuners are already putting out 700bhp versions. I've personally driven a modified-520bhp model and it's staggering just how fast it is.

From the article:
Enquiring minds want to know why Ford thinks you’d rather drive a Taurus, especially now that American streets are prowled by Hemi-powered Chrysler 300Cs. Ford has an answer, mostly with front drive and all-wheel drive. It has the 2005 Five Hundred... I saw a Five Hundred being road tested down La Brea toward LAX. The car had no black masking on it, but I could tell it was something new by the big laptop mounted on a pole over the passenger's seat, and the air measuring like gizmos mounted to its roof. It's much better looking than the Taurus. Looks "buffer" like a Taurus that's been weight training. The wheels/tires were wide, and it had four exhaust pipes exiting the rear. Might be nice.
