Black Russians(vodka and kahlua) are great to sip on while you drink beer.. in fact i almost always order BR's with beer on a 1:1 ratio..

I like Saphire or Tanquerey 10 and Tonic with a lime...quite refreshing.

Tablespoon of smack

Kettleone martini. Up with olives. Makes the world a brighter place. :)

Ok, the results are in. Well sorta. I walked in and the barkeep promptly slip a beer in front of me. I didn't want to be rude since he was just trying to be efficient , so I drank it. Before I could order he did it again! I drank this one as well. At this point I started to wonder if this is what normally goes on and I don't notice:) Anyway I was able to try the vodka gimlet on the third try. Excellent! But damn, that's a sipper my friend. It was made with goose and very little lime juice. Problem is, I could actually feel the effects of that sucker as opposed to the slow and cumulative effects of beer. After that they snuck me one more beer and I went to coffee for the next couple hours. Going to the gimlet will require an all together new pace to my program, but I think I'm up to the challenge!

Sounds like a healthy pour since it seems even the ice didn't bring down the voltage.

Speaking of healthy pours... anyone from S. Carolina? I went to Columbia and realized not a single bar (I guess it's a law, but why?) has ANY bottles of alcohol on the shelves. All they have is rows and rows of the little airplane bottles of every kind of booze that the particular bar carries. Guess you can never get less, but you can't get more, either. And it just looks plain funny on the shelves. Felt like I was on the "It's a small world" ride.

Some throw a glass of water in for every other round. (Not too manly, ehh)

lendaddy 08-06-2004 06:18 AM

It was a triple shot, but tasted great. I was impressed. When I ordered it the bartender said "oh going hardcore?" if that tells ya anything. Water might not be a bad idea, lest they find me in the dumpster the next morning:)

I had a black tie event with my client last year, and lost track of the number of gimlets at around 7 (my client has a hollow leg), needless to say much violent GI reaction ensued the next morning.

I still love them but you best be careful especially when changing over from beer...

Back when I had an Irish liver, I used to drink tarmacs. You guys know what those are, right?

Jack and coke. I miss it so.

I usually drink Red Breast Irish Single Malt Pot Still Irish Whiskey or Rebel Yell Bourbon, depending on my mood.

Thats a great gift. If you like bourbon, make sure its available locally before you sample it. It will spoil you. You will want more of it when you run out. Every bourbon you taste after that will seem rotten. This stuff has won the 'Bourbon of the Year' award 3 years in a row. No other label has ever won the award consecutively. Very, very good bourbon.

A black and tan - (Bass & Guinness) with a shot of Jameson's Irish whiskey poured in. :)

deanp 08-06-2004 11:25 AM

dd74 - that sounds really good. I prefer Bushmill's Black Bush to Jameson, but will have to give that a try....

adamred 08-06-2004 11:57 AM

Considering those are my absolute most favorite alcoholic beverages, I must try one, thanks!

I am pretty sure that is what is reffered to as a "Irish Car Bomb" in my neck of the woods. Never heard it called a Tarmac before.
