notice how there is a lot of apologist blather in this thread, but no one actually did anything to refute the Kerry lies?
and btw: tech, are you a parent? |
Kerry lied. Feel better? He was trying to get a point accross. Funny thing, but politicians tend to "expand" the truth from time to time. Bush lies too. Or expands the truth. Your choice...
and do we know he *wasn't* in Cambodia? Was anyone here there? Just becuase his service record says he wasn't there doesn't necessarily mean he wasn't. |
"Kerry lied. Feel better?"
Actually no. If he did lie, am I supposed to dismiss the fact that a man running for President once lied in order to defame his own country? Or was there a different reason for the lie I am missing? |
He's just trying to keep up with Dubya. I don't think he'll ever catch him. When it comes to lying, skill is no match for raw talent.
|
[sigh]
If Bush actually "lied" I would be the first to say "Houston we have a problem". But I am weird and actually believe that it is not a lie unless you know it to be untrue. What's your definition? Just curious. |

So really Kerry just/only lied to make a name for himself. . . .See? . ..pay no attention to that middle part, let's talk about Bush. [/kerry supporter] |
I guess I think that GW stretched the truth and/or believed what he wanted to believe on more than one occasion. I think JFK did about the same thing. Do you know he wasn't in Cambodia? As for the other part about Nixon not being president, it is difficult to tell out of context what exactly he (JFK) was refering to. And if in fact he did mean to say that Nixon was president in Dec. '68, that isn't much of a misstep imho. But he could have been talking about Johnson...again, can't tell from the quote taken out of context.
Do you guys think that GW might have "expanded the truth" in his biography to help make himself look better? Or is everything he said in there the gospel truth? |
Len, the list of out-and-out lies that have come out of Dubya's mouth is breathtaking. There is just no way you could possibly be informed, and take the position that he has not lied. No matter how you define "lie." There are endless links to these lists of lies, some of which have been cut and pasted in these threads. A book has recently been published. In my country there is freedom of speech, but that freedom does not extend to those who would try to libel someone. So, do you feel that the author of this new book is fearful of a lawsuit? You must. It's a thick book on the narrow topic of the lies our "president" routinely tells.
If you convined me that you think Geo Metros are faster than 917's, then I would draw a conclusion. Not about how fast Metros are, but about your reasoning in drawing that conclusion. Now, I think you agree that 917's are faster than Metros, so I can have confidence in your ability to compare automobiles. But you now tell me that Dubya does not lie? That's going to cause me to draw a conclusion. Not a conclusion about Dubya. |
I have not read his bio, but if you can point me to a proven lie with motive I would be interested in seeing it. I am not talking about "I once caught a 23 inch bass" when it was really 19 inches, everyone is guilty of that from time to time.

Give me a break Sup, I've read those internet BS deals. Bush lied about WMD's yea right next. Just give me a couple which can proven. Who knows, maybe I'll end up with egg on my face here. Rest assured I will admit I'm wrong if I must. [resigns to fact that the topic has been successfully flipped here]:)

I'm working late tonight, so throw me a couple to look into. Please no laundry c&p lists, just a couple of your favorites. Like I said, I will admit defeat on this if you're right.

Lies? Bush was in town the other day. On the way to the rally, he claimed to stop by Damon's for lunch. In reality, he was at the attached Sheraton changing clothes. He's a deceiptful man .....

Don't tell me you're having trouble with this? Just a couple good ones. I checked out a few sites claiming "lies" and laughed my ass off. I hope you can do better.
|
lendaddy, can't you read? The bumper-sticker clearly states "Bush Lied"
I don't know why you can't simply accept the ever-truth of the almighty bumper-sticker. ;) Geez man, if some bumper-sticker can just be "made-up" . . .what next?. . . fortune-cookie fortunes? We are doomed for sure. |
I am a little shocked, I mean "there's a whole book of em". Just pick a good one. The ones I have seen are things like " Bush claimed ethanol was high on his priority list". But then, he proposed reducing the spending rate increase over the next two years! LIE! If this type of stuff is all you've got, then I understand why you havn't posted any. I am talking about "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" or "I spent Christmas in Cambodia" type stuff here.

mull,, will you be leaving here like bush will be the whitehouse come november?

GW is right wing nut job, all you dubba lovers are just not seeing the forest through the trees. It makes me ill everytime he spins the facts to sound like some kinda hero, sheesh.
Hey George, http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1092088135.jpg |
Thanks C2wrencher I appreciate the well thought out logical response, they are hard to come by these days and I applaud your restraint and demeanor.

“I would remind you that when the inspectors first went into Iraq and were denied — finally denied access, a report came out of the Atomic — the IAEA that they were six months away from developing a weapon. I don't know what more evidence we need.” (Bush speaking at a news conference Sept. 7 2002 with Tony Blair) http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/09/20020907-2.html By Joseph Curl THE WASHINGTON TIMES The International Atomic Energy Agency says that a report cited by President Bush as evidence that Iraq in 1998 was "six months away" from developing a nuclear weapon does not exist. "There's never been a report like that issued from this agency," Mark Gwozdecky, the IAEA's chief spokesman, said yesterday in a telephone interview from the agency's headquarters in Vienna, Austria. "We've never put a time frame on how long it might take Iraq to construct a nuclear weapon in 1998," said the spokesman of the agency charged with assessing Iraq's nuclear capability for the United Nations. |
Ubiquity0,
Are you saying that Bush made this up from whole cloth? Or do you think it's likely that he was told this by one one of his advisors? Is it posssible that he confused the IAEA report with one from another agency? Either way, you need to prove he knew otherwise before it can be a lie. Remember when Clinton said there were no nukes pointed at the US? I would not consider that a lie even though it was untrue since I am sure he didn't fly around the world checking the devices to see where they were aimed, I wouldn't expect him to, he just took bad advice. |
