Lockheed Hudson/Ventura/Lodestar are all the same basic design, difference in engines, accomdation and size, but all pretty similar.

The Hudson was a direct evolution of the Super Electra transport aircraft.
It was designed in response to an RAF requirement for a bomber aircraft. First ordered in 1938 for the RAF straight off the drawing board. Various versions, or Mks existed (Mks 1 to 6 I recall.) The Ventura was the military version of the Lodestar transport. So the starting poit was the Super electra then Hudson, then Lodestar then Ventura.... Lodestar was initally a lengthened (by 5 ft) Super Electra. |
