I know in Singapore, you get the death penalty for drug convictions and they don't have much of a drug problem. There's a trade off between being safe and being cruel and unusual. No one wants to live in a country that goes Medieval on jaywalkers, but we don't want to let killers walk either (OJ).88

Let's ramp up capital punishment, reduce the time spent on appeals, etc. The only caveat is that if a person put to death is subsequently found to be innocent, then the jury and judge who heard the case are then put to death.

But I'm not much of a good liberal, really. Much too unpredictable on the issues. What did George Carlin say about the "death penalty"? "There is really no such thing as a 'death penalty', since we are all going to die anyways. It's really more like an 'early death penalty'........, eliminating those last miserable years sitting in a cell and getting ass-raped by bubba, but leaving the other years of killing and stealing untouched....." I'm all for the Arizona chain gang, hell let's put anyone who steals more than $10 million on one! "Kenny-boy" Lane, that Tyco POS, Neil Bush, cripes, those freeways are going to be spotless!!

You can always release the falsely accused but you can't bring them back to life. |
