Isn't today the 30th anniversary of Dick's fall from grace? Must be some young'ns on this board since no one's brought it up...

Yep, he's dead. And?

His office was about 5 miles from where I went to high school.

Amusingly, my wife and I watched All the President's Men last night...unaware that the anniversary was approaching.

Timely.

Clinton and Bergler have eclipsed Nixon in criminality, what is worse is they are hailed heros in the DemonRAT party.

My wife and I just finished watching "Nixon" sxunday night which is the anniversary of his resignation, yesterday was the anniversary of his departure.

8/9 is "So long Dick!" Day.

I get into it with young lefties on this subject all the time. Nixon stopped the draft 2 digits away from my ldraft lottery number. So as far as I'm concerned, he may well have saved my life (& a lot of other young men's). I can't make that statement about any other president. So yeah he f**ked up. But he also did a lot of good. He established relations w/China to put more pressure on Russia & help hasten the fall of the iron curtain.

I'd take 8 more years of Nixon over 8 more years of Slippery Willy any time.

So let's all observe 18 1/2 minutes of silence in his honor...

Yeah & lets establish a new holiday on the aniversary of the "definition of is" speach, call it Monica day & start a tradition of smoking a cigar & getting a bj.

But I do think highly of RMN. Although, to a large extent, we retreated from Vietnam, he was instrumental in a pulling out of the region. Yes, it might have been to appease the Chinese as he and Kissinger (another great statesman), were in talks with the country.

I think history has treated our ex-presidents well. Nixon, Carter, Reagan. Odds are Bush will be held in high esteem as well for his successful nation building and eradication of Islam as the dirty and unholy existence of modern mankind. :rolleyes:
