Paypal for sellers

This is OT, I realize, but is relevant somewhat. Has anyone sold stuff through an auction or here on PP's Used Parts Forum and received payments through Paypal? Is there a fee for the sellers if all you have is a personal account? Their website says sellers with personal accounts can't receive credit card payments. How else would a buyer pay Paypal if not through a credit card? I'm dense about this stuff.

I use it all the time. I don't know if my buyers can use a credit car, but most people are set-up for direct checking account transfer as well. I try to use the CC whenever I can, but sometimes they won't accept one.

Yes.

No.

and

If you have money in you Paypal account from a previous sale or you draw from your checking account then you don't have to use a Credit Card.

With a personal account you are limited to the amount of transactions or amount of money you can process per month.

At least that's the way it used to work.

There are a couple of fees. I want to say it's 50 cents plus 2.9% of the amount. The seller pays these and they are taken out of the original amount before the monies are posted to your account. It doesn't matter if you are personal, premier, or business. What can have an effect is the number of transactions per month.

If you have a personal paypal acct (not a premier acct) you can purchase and recieve payments through paypal. Paypal would like you to upgrade to a "premier" acct. so they can collect their fees, and allow you to accept payments from others with credit card secured paypal accts.
Stay with the "non-premier" acct and secure it with your personal checking or savings acct. No fees are associated with these types of transactions. Just insist that anyone doing business w/you sets up their acct the same way, otherwise you will not be able to accept a paypal payment from someone that is paying via paypal, secured with a credit card.
