Any Daytona FL Pelicans?

My mom is having fits over Frances heading that way after Charley. Anyone live in the area and what is the status now? Are you/they thinking of evacuation and what are your plans? Looking for info. I can't get there from here now and am getting concerned.

I'm in Fort Myers, FL and I know they have evacuated 500,000 people. Being that we went through one 2 weeks ago, I would tell her to get out and go inland. Hope everything turns out OK.

I stuck in Orlando, (Orange County) here they're evacuating manufactured homes in Brevard County, coast near Cape Canavaral. Supposed to hit late Saturday, early sunday and be bigger than Charlie.

can some of you in hurricane land explain something to me? why are manufactured homes even used? hurricanes are an annual event right? i figured, the home should meet some type of minimum code to resist some type of hard blow. how does insurance work over there?

i hope everything blows over easy, and all is well. i personally have never experienced a hurricane. good luck.

The last hurricane that hit before Charley was Andrew in 1991 and before that it was Donna in 1960. I have lived here my whole life and have never been concerned with hurricanes. I think South Carolina gets hit with one about ever 3-4 years.

I don't live in a trailer, nor live near any. THey have them here for the same reason they have them in Kansas (Tornado Alley). Low income people have to live somewhere.

They're evacuating low lying coastal areas from West Palm to Daytona, My place is in Martin, a stones throw(or two) from the water. Hope everyone fares well, this one could be really bad

Yes we are waiting for it....................Is suppouse to be the biggest storm ever down here even worst than Andrew will see what happens

And the reason we have MoBILE homes is that we do have "Poor People' but rather than help them, we worry about Iraq.
