Heh, a friend of mine has the Williams/BMW V10 model that Lego put out sometime last year. It's very detailed.

Yup, I think that's the one. It has a small lever that you push and two pneumatic rams lift up the cowling above the engine. Very trick!

The one I'm talking about is pretty big. It's at least 18" long tip-to-tip.

That's cool. I've always wanted to get into the "mindstorms" part of lego where you can design/build/program robots:
http://mindstorms.lego.com/eng/default.asp

check out "inventions" where there are others' creations

Those are cool! I used to collect a lot of the "Tecnic" cars -- working transmissions, suspension, etc. I love those things.

I bought a friend of mine's kid one of the generic Lego formula cars a few years ago. I think I had more fun playing with the engine than he did.

IMHO, Legos aren't as fun as they used to be; now they're nothing more than scale models with little bumps all over them.

one one hand, I agree that with more specific sets, you are just assembling models, but due to increase in complexity, it does create a potential for many more things to build from your imagination.

That BMW model looks tempting... does the "buy it now" feature disappear once you bid? I'd like one, but $150 is a bit high.

What seperates the men from the boyz are the price of the toys....

Exactly what in the world are you going to do with that model car...sit on the floor and go zoooom zoooomm....zoom

At least I collect big boys toys..guns, art and Sterling silver....used to collect cars but halleauja...I've bin cured of that....and I get bashed for what I collect..

So maybe you don't enjoy assembling things... maybe you enjoy breaking down and assembling guns, but not cars. Who knows? Maybe what separates the men from the boyz is whether they are buffeters or buffeteers. It's all just hobbies.

Cool.

I still have the Pocher 1/8 scale 993 coupe stashed away someplace. Over 1,000 pieces, as I recall. The Poscher models are a real challenge (especially once you start needing reading glasses!).

Those Pocher kits are rough! Takes alot of patience. I have a Rolls royce kit sittin in the closet gathering dust.

LOL.

They make that BMW kit sound challenging. I want to make sure Lego has not surpassed my assembly abilities. After all, looking at dizzy blow-up diagrams has taught me a thing or two about handling Lego instructions.
