ran across this likely inane quiz today...

So, I use a lot of open source software and one of the items I use I needed to reference the manual via the web today.

As I was browsing the author's site I noticed that he was highly political and libertarian. All comments on this aside he did have this link to a "quiz" on his site that I thought was interesting (though likely of no REAL value other than entertainment).

http://www.self-gov.org/quiz.html

So, in the name of entertainment alone - post your final image showing where you are.

Here's me;

I'm at the "n" on Libertarian. Get gov't out of my wallet, out of my bedroom, out of my body. They should stick to doing what we need collectively like roads, water and sewage treatment, and lay off the personal stuff.

I'm between the "S" and "T" in "Centrist", which is about where I'd place myself; a right-leaning centrist.

Hmmm ... a libertarian website, composing the questions and then determining the mapping. Sounds good to me.

I'm at the triple point of the centrist box, the libertarian and the conservative. That's about "right."

A lot of people think they're a conservative because they're republican. Who knows how they become republican in the first place, but I've known several who are because their dad/priest/authority figure told them to.

Libertarian here.

However, I consider myself conservative even though my parents and the majority of my family is liberal. I'm the republican black sheep.

I'm not a Republican, but I always thought the same thing about Democrats. Conservative middle American union workers vote Democratic as if it were a birthright. Same story in the South. Robert Byrd was a KKK member and just couldn't see himself in Lincoln's party. Explain the voting patterns of the devout Catholic block in New England. Ted Kennedy? WTF?

I'm not suggesting that Republicans are great independent thinkers, they get where they are just like the Democrats.

I did say that this was for entertainment implying it shouldn't be taken seriously - much like most libertarians (except Moses if he labels himself as such of course). (Again, that we meant as humor for those who can't hear sarcasm in the writen word)

I think Moses as well as this subject itself presents something of note.

How and why do you vote the way you do? Personally I was a registered repbulican for many years simply because that's what the majority of my family (parents, grandparents) were. I haven't really changed the way I feel (mostly) but now I am simply more comfortable with it. So; I'm a registered Democrat.

One reason I registered as a Democrat this year was simply to vote in the primary. I wanted to get my vote in there so that I could have some say in who they choose. It is likely that if they win (the D) then I will reregister as an R just to vote in that primary when the time comes. To all the research I have done HOW you are registered has no bearing on the election itself since the states members of the electoral college are supposed to vote with that states popular vote.

To my knowledge the only legitimate reason for voter registration as far as voting is concerned is to determine that you are actually legally able to vote; thus has no effect on the actual election itself.

Please correct me if I'm wrong in this - I haven't found anything to contradict it.

But back the subject at hand - I think most people wouldn't fall into the actual ideals of the party to which they claim. I know that I am not a "True democrat" because I am pretty anti union and a few other things I don't quite fit into. I'm not a Republican because of the way that party behaves as far as sexuality and the woman's right to choose to name a few. There are republican ideals that I do agree with as there are democrat ideals that I also believe in. So...I claim a party for the convienience of the situation mainly - I would happily claim to be a "Centrist" over either one if that would allow me to vote in both primaries.

Not sure that made sense but I think basically what I'm trying to say is that I have a bipartisan argument going on in my head most of the time.

I'm disappointed we haven't seen any of our republican friends take a snap at it.

Truth is I don't know what I am politically. Neither party represents me well. I am a social liberal and a fiscal conservative with a strong libertarian streak. Rather than join a party, I'll give 'em both hell from the sidelines.

I did a print screen and then cropped that using MS Paint - saved it as a jpg and then posted per normal picture posting.

mikester - I'm not taking a shot at the quiz, it is inane as you warned. It's common practice for Libertarians (and I'm apparently as libertarian as I am centrist AND conservative) to proselytize by appealing to Dems and Reps (moreso Reps) to say "See, you believe what WE believe, you're really one of us! Throw off the oppressive mantle of a strictly two-party system and join us!" Nothing wrong with that.
