Indian Larry dead
Sad news for those that appreciated his work and sense of style:
'Indian Larry' dies after stunt in Cabarrus Indian Larry, a master motorcycle mechanic and stunt man, passed away this morning following an accident while performing Saturday at the Liquid Steel Classic and Custom Bike Series show at Cabarrus Arena and Events Center in Concord. He was best known for his appearances on Discovery Channel's "Great Biker Build-Off" show. "He was riding and standing up on his seat," said Mike Downs, Cabarrus County deputy county manager. "The bike started to wobble and he was not able to regain control." Indian Larry fell off the bike before a crowd of about 8,000. He was not wearing a helmet. Paramedics were standing by and aided him until he could be airlifted to CMC, Downs said. "Cabarrus County along with the staff at the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center sends its sincere condolences to the family of Indian Larry," said Robert M. Freeman, chairman of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. "Indian Larry was a man with great skill and talent as a mechanic and metal sculptor. He will be truly missed by his fans here in Cabarrus County and throughout the nation." Indian Larry was best known for his eccentric nature, according to his official Web site. His résumé includes movie, video and television.

That's a shame, he was quite a character. OTOH, he's been cheating death for decades. I mean how many times can one expect to stand up on a chopper at high speed (and without a helmet) and not eventually crash and burn? The odds are not good for survival.

I know that it sounds old, but he died doing what he loved to do, not at the hands of another in a" NOT his fault traffic accident"
But who am I to judge |

He will surely be missed in the biker community and elsewhere. In a way I suppose flyenby is right, dying doing what he loved will surely make things a little easier on his family. I wasn't a huge fan of his bikes but I did admire his skill. Here's a fitting pic:

Crap, I just discovered this guy a few months ago while doing research to build my own bike. I noticed he always used a steering damper on his bikes to help prevent tankslappers. Guess that wasn't enough this time.

Truly a sad day for all in the custom bike world. Indian Larry was a true genius at his craft and his influence on the bike world will be felt for many years to come. Man that guy could build some crazy bikes.

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul! |
