Actually this was a total advertising coup for GM.
I've heard that Oprah said "G6" so many times during the broadcast that it was actually cheaper for GM to give away the cars+options than to buy an ad spot. Plus, by making it seem like Oprah purchased the cars herself, they get her nominal "seal of approval" (rather than seeming like she's just trying to unload a bunch of cars that GM donated). Genius!
