Go to an Oprah taping and receive a new car...

And to think, all those Wally George tapings I went to and all I received was a second-hand coffee cup...

That's cool! I'm sure Oprah has already bought everything she's ever wanted and then some. Why not give it away?

I've always thought if I ever won the lottery (which would be hard since I never play!) I'd like to carry around a wad of $100 bills and just pass them out when I witnessed somebody doing something nice... maybe word would spread and everybody would be nice!

Probably a good publicity stunt by Pontiac. 276 cars at $28,000 each. Pontiac's cost? I dunno maybe $18,000 each? So for $5 million, Pontiac gets a ton of press across every media outlet known. Less than a Superbowl commercial! Of course, the news reports make it sound like the Big O paid for the cars herself .....

BTW, what the hell is a Pontiac G6?

The G6 is the Grand Am replacement.

And if you think that GM makes $10k profit on ANY car they sell, you have to study the auto market a little better.

I don't know what their 'profit' is. I do know I've been buying a couple of GM vehciles every year for the past 5 years or more. I routinely get 15-18% discount off the sticker. At that price, my salesman, the dealer and GM are still making money. The point is (even at full sticker), they are getting a pretty good value on the PR this thing is generating.

Did you know: the audience was hand selected according to their "need" for a new car. Not one member of the audience was male. Oprah, wassa matter no men need cars?

If you're a man and watch Oprah...well...

...and anyway, Oprah's not into men.

I am planning on attending Oprah's next taping of "Men who do not get enough sex from their spouse." I am hoping that I will walk outside and Oprah will shout, "Everyone gets a porn star, everyone gets a porn star." This episode will of course be sponsored by Vivid so the big O will not have to lay out and jack for the ladies.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul!

I'd go to an Oprah taping only if they were using ten rolls of duct tape . . .

Maybe you should have actually watched that episode.......There were plenty of men in that audience.

267 people were made very happy as a result of that show, what is so wrong with that?

I wonder what Jerry Springer would give away if his show was still on the air.

I know a guy whose son is severely handicapped. Oprah did a show about his family in the end presented him a new van with a wheelchair lift. Oprah might not pay for this stuff herself, but she certainly has the power to make things happen. How many other celebrities have the same power, but choose not to use it? No matter what you think of her or her show, you have to have a certain amount of respect for what she does.

In lieu of Oprah's good deeds, remember her tiraid against the meat industry a few years ago. Yep, she could have put many more than 267 people out of work...

I've never understood why the meat people went after Oprah, but not the guy who wrote Fast Food Nation. That book will make you think about where your burger really comes from.

I saw the news blurb on this, and during the bit where they're all dashing to the parking lot to get their new cars, I thought "hey look, it's the running of the cows"

I read that GM paid for the taxes on the cars and for "customizing" each to the recipient's liking.
