whats so bad about watchin a video? do you think it brainwashed me or something and now Im gonna go out and behead someone? You make it sound like its influencing me or something...
the only thing its influencing me to do is propose we nuke Fallujah and the Zarqwi bastards or whatever those smelly turban heads call themselves |
I got a suggestion form a decorated Korean war veteran today. Anyway his suggestion was simple, surround Fallujah and announce that you're going to level the city at dawn, tell them anyone who what's to leave can leave there weapons at the gate. Next morning do EXACTLY what you said you would and carpet bomb the whole city. Next move to Najaf, etc. keep bombing until they are either all gone or have surrendered.
He tells me that we have forgotten that this is a war only the enemy has changed from the formal Iraqi army to former soldiers, insurgents and terrorists. He asks why is it OK to bomb regular military targets but not insurgents, and my reply was that a lot of innocents would die. He told me that is the true nature of war and has been for centuries, trying to win without inflicting civilian harm is like trying to play baseball without a bat, sure you can do it but it's gonna hurt alot more. The best thing he told me was that he didn't know who was dumber, us or them. All these terrorists have conveintly moved into Iraq rather than spreading the killing around and we are too stupid to realize that we could take out swarms of them at any given time. You he sure has a point, and believe me when someone who's been on the front lines of combat and lived to tell about it (he was a forward observer, very dangerous job) I'm gonna pay attention. He told me had been involved in similar operations in N. Korea and that it basically saved his life. One time they didn't level a village that they thought was harmless and the communist guerrilas attacked them from behind, killing many in his unit. If you get right down to it, the only reason there is terrorism in Iraq is because we allow it, trying to be politically correct. PC is the wrong way to run a war. |
BTW I watched the video so I could see what really happened. It reminded me of how I felt on 9/11 and as horrible as it was I think all adult Americans should see this brutality for themselves, I bet it would change a lot of minds. I remember the days folling 9/11 very well, even my most liberal friends wanted revenge. What happened to the patriotism and sense of anger and loss? So many of us go on about our lives trying to put it behind us, this is not fair to those that died. We should always remember, like the Alamo or Pearl Harbor.

I believe that the no civilian things stems from the Vietnam war era, where if American GIs came upon a village, and they found that viet cong were living there or using it as a base, it was raped plundered and burned to the ground..and we got a lot of negativity over that....'baby killer' was a more popular term yelled at American soldiers back then.
Sure we could level the town and kill everyone in there...then the world gets mad at us because we killed civilians to stop terrorism. It looks like another Vietnam scenario to me, and I saw this comin waaay back when we were still beatin up Afganistan... They figure with all the smart technological weapons we have we can take anything out and not harm one person. But a smart bomb is only as good as the human that locks it on target. So there is still error. |

It was my understanding that we are trying to rid the world of terrorists, your attitude seems to be, "if you can't beat 'em, join em"........... |
