Need Good VW Mechanic Recommendations in Orange County, CA

I am looking for a good/reasonable VW mechanic to work on a 1999 VW Jetta for a friend of mine. Can you guys give me any good recommendations in the Southern California (OC area)?

Mesa West off 16th street and Newport Blvd. A felow board member Jason (Cocentric) reccomended me there before and he used to work there as well I believe. Another great shop is VW Specialties, Ron Wood knows his stuff and is mentioned in many performance mags but still has fair prices.

Mesa is good, but I second the recomend for Ron Wood at VW Speciaties in Huntingon Beach on Gothard. Ron is the man on H20 VW's. He quit doing air cooled several years back and just does H2O VW's. Tell him Kevin's friend Aaron (the early silver 911 guy from GT) sent you. The shop is a mess but I know tons of people who sawre by him. And he is a damn nice guy. He used to order up 911 parts for me at a great price.

Both are good choices, with great staff.
For routine maintenance, I'd go to Mesa West. They don't have much of a wait time (a factor at VW specialties) and have great prices. Tell them that Jason sent you.

Ron is an awesome mechanic, I would send any performance mods, engine or tranny rebuilds to him.

Jason

I would probibly agree with Jason. Ron has his hands pretty full with is loyal following of rally racers and hot rodded water pumpers. Turnaround time could be an issue depending on how busy he is. He will give you a no BS answer and he is really good about answering questions.
