Playoff baseball is a blast. The Yankees winning, not so much.

Go Sox!

Supe, there's sooooooo much you should've known, why single out this point as worthy of mention?

Yankee fan here too. Go Yanks!!!

Frankly, I'll be truly surprised if they beat the Sox this year.

I just want them to play each other this year. Sure is a lot of fun to watch that series.

In my very subjective view, Derek Jeter and George W. Bush have soem things in common.

last night's Yanks/Twins game was a nail biter... my father was there, believe it or not. Tis okay, I may have tickets for Friday's game at Fenway *crossing my fingers*

How about the triumphant return of Pedro Martinez, eh? With 116 pitches already under his belt, he strikes out the last batter of his outing with a 91 mph fastball. It's not so bad having a hall-of-fame lock for your 2nd starter...

Go Yankees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Side note, I agree the Yanks probably won't beat the Sox in a series, but ya' never know. Either way, the Sox don't win World Championships, so who cares...

Yankees #1 baby!!!

Go Sox. The way they played last night shows their resolution. Once Pedro finished his task, they all went to work overtime. Last two innings were something else!

Maybe it's my ADD, but I find baseball is about as much fun to watch as drying paint. What's exciting about watching a bunch of overpaid hairy steriod slackers standing around spitting and scratching themselves? The ball is actually in play for what, a solid 4 minutes of the entire game?

Wake me up when women's beach volleyball season starts up again.

This

Or this?

But hey, whatever turns you on...

I'm not much of a baseball fan (can't even name the Sox' infield nor the outfield) but I am a Boston fan and once Sox are in there, you can't help but get into it.

Thom -
It's really the "hairy steroid" part that turns you off, and not the "overpaid ... slackers" thing you have an issue with, right?

I mean, those Brazilian chycks may be overpaid slackers, but we know they're not "hairy" (being from Brazil....) and I'd bet a buck they don't use steroids.

On paper, the Sox have a huge advantage in a playoff series. Think about it; in a seven game series, you will probably see Pedro twice and Schilling either twice or three times. The other days? Arroyo has owned the Yankees this year, and (Game 7 2003 aside), Wakefield has owned the Yankees for his whole career. The Yankees have Mussina, whose postseason record is suspect at best, and that's about it.

The bullpens are comparable, but the Yankees have the edge there. Granted, the Sox HAVE gotten to Rivera this year.

The Yankees have a better starting-line up, but the Sox have a superior bench, and have the advantage of making defensive changes if they get the lead. They did this last night; Sox got a one-run lead that they needed to protect, so Mankiewicz and Youkilis were put into the infield. When the Sox need to switch from offense to defense, they have three gold-glove winning infielders they can rely on (Cabrera, Reese, Mankiewicz).

BUT, the Yankees are the Yankees and have a history of beating the odds (deal with the devil?), so I'm not making any predictions.

Besides, the division series aren't over yet.

}{arlequin -- no, it's Damon that looks like a muppet.

I still respect Pedro for his ability, but he's a dirtbag; and I understand how Boston fans can say "OK, he's a dirtbag, but he's our dirtbag." I can't understand anyone pretending he's not a dirtbag.

As stated earlier, I am ignorant (un-knowledgable) when it comes to baseball, just a "team fan" so I'm not sure what makes him a dirtbag. Is it some personal things? How he plays? What he says ab other players? Wife beater?

To me it looks like he minds his own business and just gets on w/ the job. Is it the fact that he tags some batters w/ a ball? That's been going on since the game was invented. It's practically a part of the game, no?

I remember on SNL w/ Jeter hosting, they were making muppet references throughout the show
