Too big to fail
|
My new daily driver?
I guess this could almost be considered a 'coming out' post. Went and looked at a '95 E36 M3 today. 137k, 1-owner, Artic silver/Mullberry, luxo package, clean carfax, $10.7k

Sweet car, I got passed by one of those at my last DE. It was the only car to pass me all day. That's a fast car with style at a great price. Have fun with it.

I have never met an M3 owner (myself included) that didn't absolutely love the car. P.S. Mine has a John Kerry sticker on it. ![]()

Gee I have own BMW's since 1974 In fact one of my cars was is now in the Factory Museum.
Just wait tell it breaks. I dont know any M 3 owners Just Mechanics that work on them, Most of them drive 911's. The last good BMW from a Quailty stand point was the 3.0 CS they went down hill from there. And how long have you been a BMW owner? Ever driven a Bat mobile? To tell the build quality of a car the key thing to look at is resale value that tells the whole story. Last edited by SteveStromberg; 10-17-2004 at 08:43 PM.. |

BMWs are FAR from being POS's. I've owned mine for many trouble-free years. Small things have broken, sure, but nothing catastrophic, and that's with an assload of track use. I really think your characterization of the E36 M3 as a POS is completely and totally off-base. Have you owned one?

Never wanted a late model I like resale value in cars I buy. Last edited by SteveStromberg; 10-17-2004 at 08:49 PM.. |

Hey, now: I've heard the M3 is a pretty healthy machine, but I know nothin' about them other than they're fast. The new ones are butt-ugly, as are almost all the Bimmers. They look like they were drawn up by animators working on Batman/Superman.
But I'd definitely take the oldest M3 series - seems like a simple, straightforward and buildable car. I hear they kick booty beautifully on a track. BTW Thom, just so you know, M3s are the favorite ride of the Jewish-American Princess down here in SoCal. Hardly a "right"-bend car in Beverly Hills, so to speak. ![]()

Some other noteable favorite sedans I like:
Little Benz - AMG style - my ass was whipped by one at Willow. And this: ![]() Little Caddy - V style - put better shocks and race tires on this, and watch out...

I like this: a thread talking about AMG MBs racing M3s on a track. It's short, but you get the point about who thinks who is faster.
