Off topic in the off topic...Gift ideas for the mother to be?
Alright - as most of you are aware I am a putz.
James - quite now. My wife is 8 months pregnant and our anniversary is coming up the middle of the month (plus we have 8 days of fun coming up in December). My original plans for our anniversary were to go to the hotel we stayed at our wedding night and get down and funky in the same room. Um...yeah... So...I can still get the room but I'm not sure what else to get her and since I'm all new at this whole "father to be thing" I don't know what might be decent gifts. I've tried to nail her down to get her to tell me or to at least think about some things that she'd like but she's so wrapped up in the baby planning that it's just not happening. I'm on my own! AH!!! I've bought her all the jewelry I'm buying her for a while so...nix on the jewelry. Ideas! Thanks!

How about a "day at the spa" type certificate? Or perhaps his-and-her massages. Pampering is one thing women like and during pregnancy it's even more appreciated.

How about a Kerry bobblehead doll? It'll be a collector's item soon... Obscure items from loser candidates seem to do well on ebay

My wife really enjoyed her massages and facials after our two were born - I just did a $200 package all-day deal at a local spa.
She also liked the stack of poker chips which indicated that *I* be the one to get up in the middle of the night, whenever she wanted. (Note that I work full time and she's a full-time mommy, so we figured it would be fair if I didn't have to get up in the middle of the night and be functional at work the next day... hence the tokens for when she needed it)

Her feet hurt. Her back hurts. She can't drink. She can, uh, you know, but she probably doesn't feel much like it.
You have two choices: A full spa day with other's pampering her. Professionals. A full day of you pampering her. Choice #2 cuts into your time with the Porsche. There is a third choice...Pick her best friend, and send her to the spa with your wife, cause chicks like to do the spa thing in pairs. Give your wife the super duper and her friend a day pass.

Ok, from a girl....
she's 8 months pregnant, probably uncomfortable as heck, I think pampering stuff would be nice. maybe.... 1. coupon for spa 2. coupon for manicure/pedicure (she can't even reach those toes at this point) 3. wonderful bath bead assortment with maybe a nice headrest for the tub, stuff to make the tub comfortable. and here's a biggie If you could make her a great dinner, OMG guys never do that. Her favorite meal would be the best. That, being 8 months pregnant, maybe served in bed if she's tired that day.....maybe with a small arrangement of flowers... yes....hmmmmm |

Or, maybe some kind of charm/piece of jewelry with the baby's birthstone on it. First baby, right?

Get her something for the baby. Something sentimental, not practical. It sends her the message that you are as excited about your new baby as she is. That means a lot.

Seriously, just wait until you're getting a neck-tie for every fathers day, every christmas, your birthday, everything.

IE: You're the vacuum cleaner in your household, or you have a cleaning lady that uses the vacuum cleaner. Right? Question: what does my wife do when the dish washer's not working in my house? Answer: She kicks me in the butt and shoved me back in the kitchen! Honestly, we don't have a dishwasher, and I'm the designated dishwasher person. But wait: before you call me 'hen pecked,' keep in mind that in the 10 years of our marriage, I have ironed 1 single dress shirt of mine, and we don't send them out to the cleaners, AND I wear dress shirts everyday! Sorry for going ot here. -Z-man. PS: The spa treatments go a long way....
