POLL! Should there be a political OT forum

Okay,

I used to love the OT forum. It was a playground of penguin throwing, grid girling, random picturing, joke telling miasma of fun.

But now the random picture thread and the latest version of penguin throwing is bumped down to page 2 *gasp* so that we can read about the latest atrocities, political pontifications, Candian military advances, and other such truck.

So OT readers. Do you or do you not want Z-man (God BLESS his soul) to move political threads off to "another forum"? (This is not a vote for boobies).

I cast the first vote!

Respectfully, this -is- "elsewhere".

The posters who made OT interesting (more popular) are, in large part, the same ones interested in the nuace of political issues.

Hey, the "Drivers Lounge" is open and ready for some non-political dialog.

Build it up, they will come.

or not.

Grid Girls thread could be moved to the Drivers Lounge just to help you out.

BTW, this thread of yours. . .it seems to be rather POLITICAL. . . . lobbying. . . voting.

Chris, you seem to have latent politic tendencies.

See, you actually like it. . .admit it . . .embrace it.

Island. With all due respect, I just asked one question... Politics or no politics? I understand that this is an anything goes forum, but I also wanted to see what the rest of the group thinks about it... Numerically.

(and my latent tendencies right now are towards size 1 racers nomex and diapers...)

Allow me to ask just one question.

Is the price of gas a political, or non-political topic?

Well, "Driver's Lounge" is supposed to be about cars, not boobies and penguins and Grid Girls.

There could be "OT" and "Political OT".

I can certainly understand people feeling that the political stuff has taken over OT, because it has.

A few years ago this OT place was crickets. and called OT RANTINGS.

Quite a few of us changed all that.

Now this place has current topics that many are interested in.

Those who come here, offended that the titty thread has moved off the first page can learn to deal with it . . .create a "favorites link" on your cmptr, if needed. It's not rocket surgery.

I think there's been a change in the people who used to participate in OT, compared with the people who participate in OT now. The people who went away obviously aren't that interested in the current topics or perhaps in the tone of the discussions. They might want their old OT back, or a replacement.

No. There should not be a political OT forum. If you do that you would also need an Iraq forum, a Osama forum, a Christian freakshow forum - etc etc.

There should just be no US elections ever again.

The way you blokes carry on youd think you ran the world or something.

Leave it as is; this political crap should wane in the next few weeks. Which is not to say there will be NO political threads, but their frequency and stridency should ease up some.

Keeping all OT threads together will still be my opinion when exactly this same issue comes up 4-6 months from now.

I voted to move political stuff elsewhere. I expected it to wane, as well, but it hasn't, and in some ways it's become more strident and less mature. As if such a thing were possible.

If it doesn't get move, no big deal, though. We can always use the Driver's lounge. (Which is NOT analogous to pissed-off whiners saying, "Oh yeah, well, I'm moving to Canada! It's ironic that the people who claim to love our country so much are ready to leave it so readily, but there you go.)

Hey Chris! I need to talk about baffling my oil tank! See you in the Racing Forum!

Geez, right now there are two threads about split/no-split. ..

. . and it does come up every 4-6 months or so.

I think that this topic needs its own section.

Though Chris has provided a fine example of how crafting poll questions can influence votes.

Politics = no grid girls?

Kos - it hasn't been a week since the election. Give it time; things'll calm down.

Exactly!

The only ones who voted for the second onethought it read:

-- No. I want to hear more about CondiBushCare. --

I was against it when Wayne brought up splitting up the forum, but not I am all for it. The political content has really ruined the OT forum.
