How stupid are these people?

The fraud would be much more effective if they could put a sentence together. Don't they have any friends who passed an english class? I would also be better if I actually had an account with SunTrust. Details, details. I'm too picky, I guess.

I get this all the time as well. As you say, it would help if I had an account with the bank. They probably figure if they blanket 100,000 people then they'll hit on some sucker.

I got the exact same one. They aren't perfect yet, but they seem to be getting better than the first ones I remember... They were laughable!

They're not stupid at all. The dumb ones are the people who actually provide the info and, I'm sure, they'll net a few.

Unfortunately the mind can read through many spelling and grammatical errors and still understand the sentence. It can be very easy to overlook these. For example try to read this:

I cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdgnieg. The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid aoccdrnig to a rscheerch at Cmabrigde Uivnterisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a tatol mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porlbem. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef but the wrod as a wlohe. Amzanig huh ??? yaeh and I awlyas thought slpeling was ipmorant !!!

if there was a spoof e-mail from your bank ( that you actually have an account at ) and you click on the spoof link... a page will open that looks exactly like your bank site, and when you log in, they now have your login info and can log into the real bank as you ...
Thats what happens..

so, if you get something you think is legit.. open a new window and then go to your bank page like you normally would and login to check an status... NOT through / from the e-mail ..

I've known people that this has happened to..
They get one of these and imediately say " Oh, Crap " and then click on it, log in to see who has been messing with their account, but nothing happens after they give the info..

Hopefully by the time the spoofers get the info, you realize the mistake and alert the bank, or change any logon passwords
