The guy who lives behind me just got another Ferrari

This guy just bought a black Ferrari Convertible... he also has a red coupe and an 88 or 89 911 Commerative Edition Silver Coupe.

Damn those Ferraris are loud and obnoxious sounding. I have to close my patio doors when he fires that thing up. I have no idea what models these cars are, but it pointed out to me how damn loud and crappy sounding those cars are. People drive them 15 mph and they sound like they are driving 100...just big fart cans.

Tell me "Sonic dB" is bothered by noise. Esp. car noise.

We need a Fark "Ironic" tag here.

I imagine I'm unpopular with some when I fire up the 930 w/ euro exh. Tough crap.

I can't wait to fab my new exhaust. My goal is every car-alarm enabled vehicle should go off when I pass.... not to mention being a neighborhood alarm clock.

My old fiat was like that. They key for me was to exit the exhaust pipe on the passenger side so the sound is directed straight at the parked cars. Also, the hollow cat and a short glasspack helped too.

My X-pipe setup (check my pelican page) has exits straight out each side. It's loud but in a cool way and it definately sets of alarms. I get mixed reviews from folks some thinking it's too loud and others thinking it's just right. Everyone how's ridden in the car loves the sound though.

My 914/6 with the Sport (Dual center pipe) exhaust would regularly setup car alarms. I can't wait to get that sent from San Diego and re-installed.

Nothing is as bad as the loser punks in my neighborhood with their Honda and Saturn "ricers" sounding like lawnmowers. What an embarassement!

My Triad sets off alarms everywhere I go. It's the rumble more than the wail, IMO.

I've a neighbor like that - every three months he has a new ride. A Maserati, a '62 Corvette, and some French car with a two-cylinder motor that supposedly is only one of two in existence, blah, blah, blah.

He goes to Italy every three months to drive with the Maserati racing team, blah, blah, blah...

And has three other cars; including a minivan filled with boxes and junk and a wretched rusty old pick-up that he never moves. The neighbors banded together and had his truck towed. Personally, I could care less what he drives. It's the goddamned bragging I hate.

And yes, Ferraris are awful sounding cars. And look about as well put together as Italian war heroes.

Hey... Sonic dB likes big rumbling low speed mixed with air cooling and tick tock...as well as that distinctive 90 mph drone that ALL 911s have, including water cooled...

But Ferraris sound like big fart cans. Its embarrassing really.... Like its not enough to be seen, they have to be heard too. On the hot summer days, I drop the top and cruise around LA inevitably I get behind some fart can Ferrari... damn, spoils the mood.

My neighbor is one rich bastard btw....

Ferraris don't sound like fartcans, your neighbor probably has a couple Fieros with the Ferrari bodykits on them.

I'll tell you what sounds beautiful....

One of my favorite cars...

a 67 camaro.

Engine: 454 big block with a 4-barrel carb.

Now that's a sweet sound.

My 944 has the stock exhaust, and I definitely set off alarms when I'm driving by slow in a parking lot. It's not a loud exhaust, it's all about the rumble!

Six cylinder Porsche and 12 cylinder (carbed) Ferrari....two of the most distinct sounds ever to bless the pavement.

Well except for the Carrera GT. According to a friend it was the best sounding car he has ever heard. This at VIR while at a Automobile Mag photoshoot.

Ferrari's sound nice, at least my friend's 1981 308 GTS does. Plus he can shift as quickly as he wishes through the gates.

It's not a Porsche, but then again a Porsche is not a Ferrari either.

I think you are hearing an after market exhaust.

If you can see and hear him, then he can see and hear you. May I suggest you make friends and cruise together once in a while, this might take the edge off the "that guy" factor.

A gent down the street from me has a tubi on his black 360 Modena. The chorus it brings is godlike.

Had an (irresponsible) opportunity one time to run with (or more accurately run behind) a F355 spider one night/morning on 696 in the 160-170mph range. The sound bouncing off the walls from the F-car was quite possibly the greatest mechanical sound I've heard.

Kach, does that 308 belong to a older guy just west of AA? I recall last fall seeing a fellow and his wife crusing on 94 in 40+ degree weather with the top off!

No, but I've see that couple before in downtown Dexter making their way over to Huron River Drive. My buddy Bruce lives in Farmington, his car looks just like that one.

Maybe they sound like crap to me because most of the ones I've heard are out of tune from being driven by lawyers who don't know there's at least three gears left past second, i.e., the cars are invariably out of tune.

I mean, WTF?

glasspacks rule. My autox setup:

The sounds is something around the mix of a 40's olds hot-rod, a big V-twin Harley, and a NASCAR. The neighbors don't like it at all.
