Some of you who are already saved still worry about losing your salvation. The Bible teaches Christians that we can never lose our salvation no matter what happens.

So, I just say that paragraph, and I never have to worry about getting into heaven, wether there is one or not, I'm coverered, no matter WHAT happens !!!

Send himself in the guise of his son to die, even though he can't die, and that's supposed to make everything OK?

Some of you guys scare the crap out of me. I'm no "Bible thumper" by any stretch of the imagination, and I absolutely do not condone weaseling in a link to religious propaganda on this forum, BUT to dis God is, well, blasphemous. Just further reinforces my realization that our country is losing it's moral compass. Whatever you think or believe, it makes me very sad. Sorry if this offends anyone.

David, you make a very good point, but I think you may be missing ours.

We aren't dissing God, but small-minded men's ideas on God and their attempts to spread a flawed and simplistic view of God. In my eyes and study, man has created a very fragile god, subject to our whims, and not the all powerful god they describe in the next breath.

Take Falwell the other night. He was talking about tithing. Here's what he said, direct quote, which was also a subtitle: "Tithing clears the way for God to bless the tither."

What do you think is wrong with that statement? This is the brand of god that, as they say, "makes the Baby Jesus cry."

Sorry if I missed your point. Yeah, Falwell (and 99% of all TV evangelists) are merely serving their own good. Tithing is a good thing, as long as it's "sent to us in the form of check, money order, or cash. We also accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express." Guess I'm a pretty simple guy when it comes to religion. I don't believe anybody who speaks the Word of God in one breath, then asks for you money in the next. Pretty cut and dry to me...

Moral compass.... OK.. if we want to discuss the morality of christianty, one only needs to look at how many people have been killed in it's name.

I have a real problem with people who have so much faith in their beliefs as to deny any possibility that it may not be true or correct.

On another point, I'd like to think that if Jesus or God do exist, they would have a fantastic sense of humor about how we have interpreted what could have been a very simple rule, "Be nice to one another" into a cult based on guilt, shame and pain.

Arent we made in God's image? therefore, would it blashpemous to assume that God enjoys a beer once in a while, likes watching football, and girls? I mean he CREATED them, right? based on the scientific evidence that discounts a lot of what the bible says, it is so hard to assume that God can err just as man does?

Again, this is common to all forms of religion. Nothing special about Christianity here.

People seem to have forgotten that our country was founded by people who believed in God. The documents that were written by our forefathers were based on this belief. Agreed, many since have added laws and amendments that do nothing more than blur the lines between what's right and what's wrong. Personally, I believe the so-called "lawmakers" of our country have done us a great disservice by over-legislating our society. This is something that has degraded our "moral compass". We are becoming more reliant upon what is law, rather than what is common sense.
