What to expect from Condi...

Powell's out, Rice is in.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/11/16/rice.powell/index.html

Is it or is it not going to be an interesting diplomatic ride?

Neilk 11-16-2004 12:25 PM

I am not sure the Diplomatic is in her vocabulary. I hope that the Arabs will give a woman a chance at the peace table. Not likely though.

dd74 11-16-2004 12:32 PM

I worry about that too. These aren't advanced men she'll be dealing with...

I love the thought of Condi walking into a room full of misogynist third world leaders. They may have a harem at home, but a woman who can call in an air strike on their tent will do wonders for attitude adjustment. :D

According to some news network comments, some people have expressed concerns about her management and organizational skills. This will impede her affectiveness in managing the State Department on a daily basis.

Don 944 LA 11-16-2004 03:10 PM

Does she still sit on the Board of Chevron ????

I'm sure she is used to dealing with people in that region ..

Lets not forget what a great job she did as national security advisor up to and after 9/11.

I expect some of the bureaucratic fossils and foot-draggers at State might be a bit nervous at this appointment. My take on Ms. Rice is that she demands more than they are accustomed to delivering. I hope so, anyway. I think it is very interesting to see a Secretary of State so personally close to the President. I don't that has happened in a while.

Didja know she is 50 years old ? I was giving her 35-40. She is looking good for her age, although smiling a little more would not hurt.

Aurel

smilling is her weakest point, like lipstick on a pig.

HOOT! Now think of this...Condi vs. Hillary, Presidential candidates for both parties. Both women. I think I'd vote for the smartest one...;)

I normally don't get involved in political issues, but thats a really good point...

dd74 11-16-2004 06:08 PM

I actually can't remember a single thing she did as NSA.

Don't like Hillary, huh?

350HP930 11-16-2004 06:21 PM

She has been an advisor concerning her specialty, the now defunct soviet block.

That being the case you think she would have been aware how problematic that al-qaeda threat was that her underlings and the previous administration was warning her about.

LMAO

WOODPIE 11-16-2004 07:30 PM

Her "people skills" are on par with those of Porter Goss.

Bush is loading his cabinet with Yes men. And women. If we can believe Aurel's pictures.

Yes, Ed, that certainly does look to be the case. I wonder what Colin Powell's going to do now? I've heard he has an affinity for racing and fixing up Volvo cars. I'm sure a two-ton hunk of Swedish steel can be better negotiated with than his past-tense cabinet contingent.

Do you really think that every thing the NSA does on a daily basis should be the subject of the NYT and the media, all for your personal consumption and critique? Now that's one really stupid way to run a security agency.
