"NEW YORK (AP) - Saddam Hussein diverted money from the U.N. oil-for-food program to pay millions of dollars to families of Palestinian suicide bombers who carried out attacks on Israel, say congressional investigators who uncovered evidence of the money trail.
The former Iraqi president tapped secret bank accounts in Jordan - where he collected bribes from foreign companies and individuals doing illicit business under the humanitarian program - to reward the families up to $25,000 each, investigators told The Associated Press."

It was common knowledge, maybe a couple years ago? I remember that it was insinuated that that's where the money came from when the initial support by Saddam for the Palestinian families was announced.

Of course they left out the part about Saddam making $21.3 billion-with-a-B in illegal revenue off the program and the $35 million in commissions he paid to suicide bombers ..... minor details I suppose. Otherwise, a very well run program.

actually you would have to have enough brains to understand the contex of what the UN and Volker are all about in time, or it's only some kind of numbing partinship when following the escapades.. it can also be more fuel for the flame thrower.
