Replacing plastic back window..going to a local guy FORGET IT MAN

Well, that’s irritating. I called a local guy to see if he had the plastic for the backwindow of 84 cabrio. He said, yes, 50 bucks, but it’s really hard to install. I said I know, I put the top on myself—I know it’s hard.
Anyway, he kinda talked about how hard it is just to replace the back window on the phone, but he would sell one for 50 bucks.

So I went down there. 4 miles = 20 minutes in LA--one way. He was palsing around with some guy there to pick up an Aston Martin for a customer..but didn’t say “hold on…” I’ll be with you in a bit. He just said, he charged 400 to do a new back window, and it takes two days, and how hard it is, and kept saying how must he respected my ability to do it myself, while he shot the ***** with the other yahoo.

BLA BLA BLA. I KNOW MAN.

And basically, he just let me stand there.

Second, he made a joke about “stealing the election”…I’m thinking, you fukking moron, I work on MY OWN CAR. THAT AUTOMATICALLY MAKES ME A REPUBLICAN.

Anyway, he just kept talking to this other yahoo while I stood around with my finger up my @sshole.…and finally, I was like fuk this. So, I said, hold on…and I just got in my car and left. Waste of 45 minutes.

He followed me out when I was on the road, and said “I have your back window..I just had to help the other guy” and I’m just like fuk it. FUK IT. I do not have time for this *****. If I can buy a WHOLE NEW TOP FOR 695$ why on EARTH would I pay 400 for just the backwindow? Read my lips: GEORGE W BUSH = I WORK ON MY OWN CAR BUDDY. We did not steal the election @sshole.

To make a long story short, I’ll just see if I can order new plastic online and autosintl. What a fukking waste of time. When you’re a small potatoes, DIY guy, you have to go to small potatoes, DIY places who just specialize in selling parts.

Sorry to hear about that, but nice to see you on the board again. Don't be such a stranger, tell us some good "spanking" stories, aight?

You republicans are a little edgy. And by the way the part about stealing the election might not turn out to be a joke.

What does performing ones own work on their car have anything to do with their political affiliation or viewpoint? Sorry if its a stupid question, but I don't see the connection.

I'm a flaming liberal, and I mod my car seven ways to Sunday. I think it's the A-R R-Gruppe, gotta-have-NOS-German-air-in-my-tires that are the Republicans.

I think this is one of the last peaceful places to go that after such a contentious election for people with like interests to go and share stories assist and generally relax. Let keep at least this area of the board technical and all the other stuff on the other threads designated for that purpose. With that said, I don't see the connection between working on your own car and being a Republican. I do it because 1) I have the ability 2) I love working on the Car and 3) I don't have a lot of money - and I'm Independent.

I thought liberals didn't like cars...and if they had to buy one, Volvo's and Hybrid's were the ticket.

I'm pretty sure there are discussions regarding politics in OT.

I say get some 1/4 inch acrylic, make up a template, cut it out then use a heat gun to carefully bend it into shape while its sitting on the rear window frame. Have fun, BTW what shop was it so I can avoid it?

I'm in the process of buying a Volvo wagon that would spank most of the older 911s on this board from 0-60. But I digress.

I am surely glad that I don't have to worry about getting spanked by a Volvo.
