Another coffee epiphany. Flying Goat coffee...

Just brewed my first two cups of Flying Goat's Espresso Ticino. Amazing stuff. Beautiful aroma. Thick mahogany crema. My wife thinks I've lost it, taking pictures of my morning java to share with my "Porsche-obsessed internet friends". She's probably right.

I e-mailed my order to Flying Goat and had freshly roasted beans the next day. They never charged me, but sent a bill with the coffee. The Espresso Ticino was $9.50/pound. Pure caffeinated bliss.

Thanks Moses--you're not crazy. What kind of wicked coffee machine is that!? You like?

Thanks for the sanity check. It's a Capresso Jura S9. Ridiculously expensive, but it will have paid for itself in less than a year. We no longer go to Peet's or Starbucks. My wife was a Starbucks fixture and I was a regular at Peet's. The S9 is heaven for a coffee addict on the go. It is super-fast and easy to maintain. Way too expensive, though. I got a nice deal through a small coffee shop that was going out of business.

You're not crazy at all. I've seriously considered taking pictures of my own best shots, but usually when I get one just right, I don't have the camera handy.

Garage
I just checked on eBay and that unit runs about $2000. I'm looking for a new espresso/coffee maker for my wife. I wanted an all-in-one unit (roast, grind, brew) but I think I've changed my mind...

You can get one for lots less $$. You won't get a second boiler (steam and brew seperately) and you won't get full metal construction but they still make much better coffee than the chain stores.

An example would be the Gaggia Synchrony. We're nearing a thousand cups and still going strong. Cost? About $700.

I'm starting to think about roasting my own beans next... "Green" beans are much less expensive than roasted, so it would pay for itself!! At least that's how I'm justifying it...

I researched this to death before buying the Capresso-Jura. If time were not a major factor in my morning routine, I'd have a Mazzer-mini grinder and a Salvatore machine. Tabs has it wired.
