Thought this cant be called accecptable, I can understand what artest did. You would have to be a complete moron to throw **** at a professional athlete, and when they had just come off the court in the midst of a fight, you are asking for trouble. The first guy got what he deserved, but after that... you cant say much but wow.

Actually the first guy that Artest decked had nothing to do with it. He went after the wrong guy.

I completely disagree with you. With all the money a pro athlete is paid to play a game, you'd think he could exercise some sort of self control. These guys have the gall to call it "self defense--" self defense from what, a cup of beer being thrown at them? That justifies a 6-10, 250-pound behemoth charging up into the stands and decking some little weasel?

The higher ground is nowhere in any of this.

Remember the fat guy toward the end of the brawl who walked out onto the court and got sucker punched to the floor? As it turns out, he lives nearby me and has become somewhat of a local celebrity ..... Works at a party store and of course the local news setup shop out there yesterday and was interviewing family, friends and co-workers ....... predictably, they were all giddy with excitement that they knew somebody involved! The general sentiment was <i>"he was just an innocent bystander"</i> Oh really? And he just happened to be out for a leisurely stroll on an NBA basketball court in the middle of this melee???????? Sorry, but he deserved what he got. Any reasonable person would have been heading away from the brawl as quickly as possible, not purposely walking into the middle of it.
