The next currency
This was just a simple early-night TUI(typing under influence) thought:
Money seems so much more like a concept rather than a physical object. I can now pay for at least a week of travel time to a different location to start anew, which (probably/statistically) most humans throughout history have not been able to do. Historically we people started out with emotional submission to a group for acceptance of resouces, then progressed to food as barter/bargaining power, then on to tools/ability to make food, then impractical objects such as sea shell/bird feathers/animals with shiny metals, then metal coins alone, then added paper, then electronic banking(value stored and tranfered without physical reference to any holdings), then/now credit (promise of present value repayment). What will be the next form of "money"? I'll guess a form of promisary mental/phsyical function of total ability-- based upon previous statistics of sucesses and geneology/application aplied as "mental/physical credit"(?) I dunno, what is the next form of "credit"? |

I don't think we will ever go back to using someone's word as credit because people are such good liars and to be honest many people just keep on stepping on their fellow man to get to the top. As far as future credit, I would like to see finger print payments but what is to stop criminals from cutting off someone hand and walking around with it to pay for things. On second thought, maybe would should stick with electronic banking because it seems the only people losing out are the post office.

I dunno..I think we are basically there. Remember the old SciFi programs and novels that spoke of "credits" used as a means of exchange. Personally, I carry very little cash with me at any time. I have found, over the years, using the credit card wisely and paying off the balance monthly works for me. As time goes on, the system will get less prone to hacking, and be more secure, probably retinal scan or other bio based authorization. However, as the old adage goes: "No system will ever be completely foolproof since fools are so clever."
