California DMV Questions
I am in the process of selling my car, as you can imagine the seller is looking for some protection.
I still owe money on the car, so I am going to pay it off. Once I pay off the loan, how long does it take for the DMV to release the new title showing me as the owner. The bank says if I pay with Certified Funds they will release the title in 7 days. This is one of those electronic titles, I think in the past it has come within 14 days, but again, I can't remember. Usually the DMV is very responsive now with newer technology so things get out faster. The title on my brother's car with which he just paid off took about 2 weeks after the bank made sure the funds cleared but he mentioned that if it is certified which you mentioned, the process goes much quicker. As far as the seller, it is a matter of trust. Ask him what would be acceptable until you give him the title of the car or does he want the car, send him a set of keys or something. Is this the Porsche?
