Curt,

What type of a deal did you get on the M3. I sold the 911 this week, and was thinking it would be a fun daily driver. I only drive 20 miles a day.

Curt,

Nice pick! Despite the potential problems, it sure seems like a great "total package". FYI, a "relatively narrow 50 series Blizzaks" would be equally wide as a tire with either 40 or 45 series sidewalls. The aspect ratio is a function (percentage) of section width. If the snows are indeed more narrow the first number is what tells you, in mm, the width.

Good luck with it! Driving a BMW in the rain and snow is a blast. Just be careful. It's a whole different kind of tailhappiness than we air-cooled 911 guys know.

Happy holidays my friend!

Dave

Michael - see your PM.

Here's a couple of photos from the safety of the garage.

These are the 17" winter wheels/tires:

Dave - Thanks. I guess I should more correctly say that the Blizzaks are 225/50 - 17 all the way around on 8 inch wheels. The standard is 225/45 - 18 with 8" wheels front and 255/40 - 18 with 9" wheels rear. -- Curt

Wonder how this thing will handle compared to a 84 Carrera?

The M3 is at a different level from the 84 Carrera (or anything else from 20 years ago). I think you'd have to compare it to a 996 to be fair.
