Which American sedan or sporty coupe to buy?

Hi,

A female friend of mine is moving to join the family business which has heavy union involvement. As the resident car expert, she asked me what American car she should get. Apparently, American owned manufactures like Volvo, Saab or Jaguar don't count. She was thinking about a Crossfire but I told her that was somewhat impracticle.

What sedan or sporty coupe (not Corvette) would ya'll recommend in the $30-$45k range? A Chrysler 300 looks good, but a little too big for her.

Thanks,

How about the new GTO. I think with its understated looks and 400hp for 05 it might make the perfect Q ship.

I was quite pleased with the Caddy CTS that I drove. And the CTS-V is a monster.

05 Mustang GT is a great car. I'm prejudiced since we sell them but Ford really hit the sweetspot with this car. It has a great "retro Trans AM" stance, feel, and look to it. The minute you start it - it sounds like your on call for Bullitt - really feels tight and solid. I have a feeling it's the kind of car you're going to wish you bought and kept 10 or 15 years from now.

Downsides - no IRS yet. Should be later on the "R" or Saleen version. First year quality control concerns - so far we have not had repeat warranty issues - the 4.6L V8 has been out for a while so no problems there. Fit and finish are above average - there are always orange peel issues on American product. You should try one if you have a soft spot for the Shelby and Parnelli era Mustangs.

I should add that we also sell 300's. Very plush ride with a real luxo touring Mercedes feel. The Hemi is very strong. If your friend wants/needs to impress clients or drive them around this would be an excellent, cost effective choice. The black on black looks more expensive than it is. The front end is not to my particular taste (seems a bit heavy handed to me.) But customers love them. Have not heard of many complaints about them from unhappy customers.

Dallas, TX location, right? Mustang..............for everyone else be careful, I've been reading horor stories about what heavy rain and or a dusting of light snow do to the handling of these cars - drive at your own risk.

Drove an Impala over 4,000 miles cross country and back a month ago. Handled relatively well, great seats, luggage space up the wazoo and 30 mpg on the highway. Variable weather conditions; rain, dry, high winds, etc. Very stable at highway (and above) speeds.I have also driven Mustangs on long trips in the recent past and the Impala was far more comfortable.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Rented a new Ponitac Grand Am, things got some pop and noticed a nice amount of room.

If she is in DFW - she may want to look into a Ford Ranger. Nice pick-up for the ladies. Milage is good and if she wants, she could always get the extended cab for the dog or a drunk date!

Here we go.
Hondas and Acuras built in Ohio are now classified as domestic and not import by the feds and epa. American supplied content is now over 90%. Fire up a TL, technically an American car now. Support American workers. Many GM, Ford, Cryslers are built up North or way down South now.
