Fedex says they delivered package...but they didn't!
Waiting on a package from Pelican, and checked the FedEx tracking # this morning. They say they delivered it to my front door at 6:07 yesterday evening (I was home), but I haven't seen it or them. BTW, I have had dozens of packages delivered via UPS with no problems whatsoever, but the few times FedEx has been involved, they've never left a delivery without me authorizing it to be left the next day, or with me signing for it in person. I've already contacted FedEx, and am waiting to hear back...what would be my next course of action if it's not located?

Was it insured?
|
should of had it delivered UPS ;)
I have a christmas gift out for delivery for the past two days on a FedEx truck. |
Fedex lost a $1000 machine on me. Now I hope I can collect on the insurance....they say it'll be no problem.
|
I don't know if it was insured or not (I haven't contacted Pelican yet), but this is the first time PP has used FedEx (instead of UPS) for me...I'm NOT impressed (and never have been with FedEx).
ps: It's not a huge order ($), but I'm waiting on the parts so I can finish building my pelican :) |
pretty sure fedex covers the first $100 automatically like UPS does
|
not to pile on, but i too HATE fedex. especially the ground service. i will pay more to keep it out of fed ex's hands. do a search there was a thread a year or so ago that explained the difference between fE's ground and air service, complete with horror stories about peoples experiences. you might try off topic if it does not show up on a search here in the tech area.
good luck. |
Fed Wrex will cover to $500 if the "Sign to Authorize Delivery Without Signiture" was left empty, other wise additional insurence is needed. If the shipper signed it, then the Fed Wrex monkeys will leave it at the stoop. They should have info on who signed for it. You may also want to check the neighbors - sometimes Fed Wrex gets creative.
BTW - they have screwed me so often on shippments that now I use DHL or UPS and save them for a last resort. |
I've intentionally never signed the generic 'sign to authorize delivery without signature' for ALL future deliveries, although many times I've signed one for a package to be left the following day. To me, even that was a PITA to wait a day for a package with an insignificant $ amount. I've just never had a problem at all with UPS, and I've probably used them 20 times for every single FedEX delivery. I'm just ranting...I HATE Fedex :(! I just contacted Jason @ PP (great customer service btw), and I'll sit tight for another day waiting to from FE...Jason did designate my account to only use UPS in the future :)!!!

The maroons at fed wrex don't seem to care anymore - the compnay is all paper, they don't own anything, interesting biz model and great if you need backout quick I guess but 'wheres the love'?

Hmmmm..It's UPS that I hate....and have had GOOD LUCK with Fed Ex Ground...and I'm shipping guns.... and Art...all relativily high $$$$ stuff.
I hate UPS because they require a handgun to be shipped 2nd Day Air..which is $40. Many of the guys I sell to balk at that price. I once took a handgun to be shipped to UPS, the MONKEY behind the counter proceeded to open the package, because he had to check and see if it was loaded....I just said forget it and left with my package. Fed EX doesn't give me any grief in that department...I also insure everything for full value....and will not ship otherwise... |
was he askeerd the popcorn stuffin was gonna pull the trigger? I think he was just nosey is all. FE ground is done differently than air. I know a guy who has a rig and is contrated with ground, they are separate. It is actually a pretty good gig - travels around the US with mama and pooch. The rig was paid off in 15 months, sezz FE treats him well.

Tabs, I'm sure it varies (depending on where you live), 'cause I've heard similar versions before. In my case, I've almost always had the same UPS driver, who delivers in the evening (when he knows I'm likely to be home), and uses a bit of common sense :)! For FedEx, I've always had to leave a signature authorizing next day delivery, since they ALWAYS come during the day (when I'm not usually home) ...except this ONE time, and still no package :)!

I like Fedex because they're much cheaper and much more convenient for me. But they have been Effing up lately. I understand that all/most their drivers are Franchised.
|
I recieved some shipments via FedEx, never had much of a problem, exept they leave packages in goofy places, like on top of one of our parts cars. by a tree in our yard (kinda like Christmas), or they'll just leave it on your porch without even checking to see if you are home. I don't think I have ever seen the elusive FedEx man, just packages left in goofy places.

Well, maybe I should take back everything I said about FedEx...but I'm not gonna :) ! At least my package showed up this evening...I have to give them credit for that. But if my dog hadn't 'went off', I'd have never known they left it...can't they ring a freakin' doorbell?

Fed Ex can eat my shorts. They suck balls.
Everytime they delivered wheels to my old job, the boxes would all be abused, and you could see the wheels inside (that wasnt good), and you would try to pull the wheels out of their boxes and the boxes would just fall apart. More than 75% of the time, wheels got damaged in some way. Anything shipped by UPS I never had a prob with. Sometimes sets of wheels got split up put on different trucks, but they usually showed up by the next morning. |
We've used FedEx for years at my office, with very few problems although there have been several "failures" particuarly in the last ~2 years. These were mainly situations where the package was 1-2 days late per the specified delivery option, and they refunded the cost in each case.
Fortunately, I don't think they have hosed-up any mission critical shipments (like CHECKS in particular). I have never used FedEx Ground as a shipper, as both USPS Priority and UPS have never failed me for non-overnight shipments, including international ones. For personal outbound shipments, it is a no-brainer to use UPS as I can print the label online and drop the package at the corner pickup point on my way to lunch. Screw waiting in lines... I've gotta say, though, that the increasing tendancy of UPS to leave packages outside w/o signature is worrisome. There is someone here >90% of the time but I have found numerous packages, sometimes multi-100-dollar ones, left on the doorstep by UPS. WTF's up with that? |
UPS are temsters, fed ex is non-union
DR (driver release) areas are in residential places where drivers leave stuff without signatures, if possible and safe in their mind. fed ex actually rolls packages (held at the hub) until schedualed delivery day. I have a hard time understanding this practice due to volume at peak season. during peak (christmas) if making a delivery at night sometimes they won't knock all packages are different some reguire signatures ans some don't, even in DR areas I don't work at either place anymore, but did for quite a while some of this info may have changed over the years. and ya, fragile just means they throw it underhand |
Always ship to your bizz address. No question that way. I'm lucky as we have up to 8 deliverys a day between ups over night, fex overnight, regular ups and fed-x ground which I agree sucks. Stick with air fed-x and UPS and they will back all they do. We refuse all damaged goods and have it sent back. Works better that way.
